NEC-3520A Suddenly stop to burn correctly, but reads OK

Hello, I have serious troubles with my nec 3520A (default firm: 1.04) IDE MASTER with a DVD drive as SLAVE It started when I tried to erase an old CDRW, It gave me an error. I tried in my other computer which would not erase it as well. I gave up on this CDRW, but I can't remember to have burn or erase any media correctly with the nec since then. It always fails, both on windows and linux, with several different software. So I updated the firmware but it still doesn't burn, but it still reads perfectly. Have you tried lowering the burn/erase speed? To begin, simply do what you need to do on the lowest speed, and then keep increasing until it gives the error again. This will most likely work. I had this problem and I burn now CDs at 16x.

Nec 2500a dvd wont burn maxwell 16x dvd-r

It could be a firmware problem, you can update your firmware but be sure to update to the latest official, stable version. If you have problems only with this type of media and all others are OK, I would recommend you to use different media.

Everytime I try to burn a dvd/audio slideshow, it tells me there is no disc in the drive and I know there is. I have used a dvd, dvd+r and a cd RW, and none of them worked?

More than likely, your DVD drive requires a firmware update. Check the support section on the NEC website for instructions and downloads. The process is pretty straightforward...

NEC ND-3550A won't read discs

I found out that whenever I put my computer to sleep in S3 mode, after waking up, NEC wouldn't start (even after firmware update to 1.07). Problem can be overrided either by turning S3 off (put it to default S1) or by disabling and reenabling NEC DVD. This may help for some other problems also that are connected to kikoksky proposed solution (which btw didn't solve problem for me).
I created MS-DOS Batch file (.bat) with Microsoft's DevCon tool for this action:

cd "C:\Program Files\DevCon\i386"
devcon disable "IDE\CDROM_NEC_DVD_RW_ND-3550A____________________1.07____"
devcon enable "IDE\CDROM_NEC_DVD_RW_ND-3550A____________________1.07____"

NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A will only read and burn DVD's, not any type of cd

You could try updating the Driver.

The driver and instructions can be found here:

I have problem with my AVERATEC COmputer

This is a common issue with NEC DVD burners, assuming that your NEC DVD burner cannot read and write DVDs anymore. I had a similar issue with my NEC DVD burner, which couldn't read and write CDs, but DVDs successfully. This is usually due to wear and tear of constant usage of the drive itself and sometimes mechanisms inside the DVD burner cease to work. While Windows Troubleshooting, uninstalling and re-installing the drive are suggestable, I am afraid the only option is a complete DVD burner replacement.

Problem installing nec 6650 drive

Assuming the connection to the laptop has been physically made correctly and that your previous optical drive had the same problem. The motherboard of the laptop may be faulty in the way that the IDE channel may not be recognising any devices. Put your old drive back in to make sure it isn't a fault with the motherboard. It may be that it's a rare compatibility problem, or the interface of the NEC 6650 is different to that of your current optical drive. Failing all this. Reset your bios to the defaults.
