SOURCE: Main oven problem

I suspect not the oven element at fault. you only way forward is to actually test the resistance of the element to earth with a megga if you can beg the use of one. be cautious about the result as on occasion, elements are only faulty to earth when hot. another way to test if you are cdarefull, is to connect the element to mains independently of the oven and see if the rcd trips

SOURCE: replacing oven bottom liner for Kenmore oven

about to do the same for a friend - hers has two visible screws through the floor at the back of the oven. the new plate has several additional holes. i have not yet removed the old, but looking at other google entries, i may just need to take out the visible screws.
not sure of the model, but it is a free-standing kenmore gas range.

About 3am this morning our oven started beeping and woke us up. When we went to see what was wrong the oven display window has and F1 notation. What does this mean?

and also do this
Hello there :
this F 1 error that you are getting is caused by a controle board that may be failing on you what you can do is to unplug it for 30 minutes and during this time open the back of the controle panel and look to see if you see any wires that are burned or shorted out if nothing is found than
to this also open the back access panel to make sure you don't have a grounded element or hot wire melted into another wire to cause a always on condition
i would replace the controle board ok

Stove smokes when i turn the oven on

on the oven's smooth surface you should use a razor blade and scrap off the plastic (when cooled).. if the plastic melted on the burner, you may need to replace that particular element from a local appliance part store. easy to do.

Melted aluminum foil

Hi there,

Steel wool is the best bet, but it would be easier to replace the floor panel. I had a customer do the same thing. depending on how bad it is replacement mat be a easier option, about $35 for the new panel, and about a month to get the part. two screws on the floor of the oven next to the back wall. The manual does say not to use foil on the oven floor.

Good Luck!!

Oven won't heat

Unplug the power cord for thirty minutes, this should reset the oven.
If this still does not work do the following:
Press clean and then cancel. This will reset the appliance.

If the error does not clear , then during the self cleaning cycle, the high temperature has probably damaged the temperature sensor probe, and it must be replaced.

Broiler won't turn off. Error code F-3

The broiler won't turn off even when you press the "Off/cancel" button? It sounds like the broiler control relay is stuck shut. The F3 code means the oven temperature sensor has failed, this probably happened because the oven got too hot when the broiler was stuck on. There is fail-safe thermal fuse that will blow if the oven gets too hot, so the oven won't melt down but you should leave the unit off so you don't blow the fuse.

To fix the relay, you will have to replace the oven control module. I think this is about $200 and not too hard to replace if you are somewhat handy. The temperature sensor is also serviceable, you can find parts at Appliance Parts Pros on the web. Hopefully you haven't thrown the range out yet, let me know if you need further assistance.

Melted Tin Foil in bottom of oven

Unfortunately, it's too late. The tin foil has melted into the panel and can't be removed. The melted foil will not affect oven operation. You should never place anything on the bottom of a stove that has a hidden element. You will damage the panel. The only option you have is to replace the panel (if replaceable) or the entire oven liner...
