When trying to boot up laptop it goes to to page where it says
safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known cofigeration

no matter wich one u try it comes back to the same page.
If trying any of the safe mode boots a page of drivers comes up and then back to same page.

We have exectly the same problem with the same laptop- it was purchased about 3yrs ago, but only taken out of the cellophane last week, and there was no recovery CD in the unopened and sealed box. Toshiba advised me they don't have recovery CDs other than for 2007+ models, and that Iwould have to purchase a new Win XP to solve the problem. would be good if someone knows another way of resolving the problem.

I need to know the name that appears on the very first screen you can see when you turn your computer on. This will be the name of the bios. Then what i am going to have you try is setting your computer to boot off the cd. To do this you have to navigate through bios. This is like the nervous system of your computer so i need to know if you are comfortable with this.

Try and do a system restore boot the computer in safe mode with networking to do this you:

  1. Turn on laptop
  2. While booting up press and hold F8
  3. Until you are brought to a boot up option page with different ways of booting up
  4. Click safe mode with networking
  5. When you do this computer will load and click system restore
  6. Restore computer to a previous date when it was working

How do I fing toshiba A60 equium password

Hi,
pull the battery out and leave it out for a few minutes and then put it back in - if you can reach the bios then reset optimum settings - if there is a windows password then reformatting will get rid of that one.

select start windows normally and press enter.

it's the windows installation that's faulty, not your laptop.

Have toshiba satellite A60-S1591ST Put new battery in after unit

Try hitting F8 when booting, booting to Safe Mode, and running System Restore to revert back to a time before your issue began. Post back with how it goes.

It may be possible to startup in safe mode(press F8 on boot up) and highlight 'Last Known Good Configuration' or highlight 'Start Windows in Safe Mode. If this gets you up try a system restore to before you updated driver or look for the system recovery folder, normally on another partition of your hard drive, that is if you didn't get a recovery cd. If you are not able to get up and running you will need your Windows Installation Disc to either repair the system or do a complete re installation by putting in cd whilst you boot up. It may also be that your HDD is damaged and thats why you can hear the cd drive powering up, looking for a system disc, as it cannot find Windows.
