If the seal is cut then I do not see any reason to believe the pump is also faulty. You can test if the pump is working or not buy listening to the sound when you start the dishwasher. The air pump runs for a few minutes at the start of the cycle. You can try and find pump for DD601 which might also work. Unsually the pump and the release valve should be replaced together for better operation.

SOURCE: maytag dishwasher mdb9600awb - loud pump

This has happened a few times to me as well.(VERY VERY LOUD NOISE AT THE BOTTOM)I have the same model It did stop.I did a little reading and came to the conclusion that it was the built in food disposer chopping blades were chopping up something like a cherry pit or peach pit and once an end of a wooden spoon that dropped down.If you look at your USE and care Guide on page 12 under trouble shooting "Dishwasher seems noisy"..I went through the same thing taking things apart. Its got to be it. Mine is 2 1/2 years as well. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Replace bottom door seal on Dishlex Global 300 Dishwasher - Model DX300SA

HI - i just replaced the bottom seal yesterday. The guy at the spares shop advised me to replace both (bottom of door and bigger seal ) at the same time to ensure no leaks - i did that. The bottom door seal come out when you unscrew the screws - (No need to remove door) and because of all the gunk (from years of washing and age of the rubber) i had to wedge a blunt knife in between (starting at one of the ends) and lever it out - MAKE SURE YOU TAKE NOTE OF THE WAY IT IS BEFORE YOU REMOVE IT! An easy way to remember is there is a nick in the rubber of the old (and new) seal and as it is not centred, just note if the nick is closer to the left or right of the machine, I have replaced mine and there is a little leak and now i wonder if i put the seal in upside down! it has to go in the same way - before you gimmy your's out can you tell me if the nick in the rubber is to the left or right? (LIZ at If I have put in back right there is a chance the screw didn't go through the plastic part of the seal and therefore not holding it in place properly. GOOD LUCK! Don't worry about having to really work at getting the old seal out - you don't need it anymore and i didn't damage mine, regards, Liz

Fisherpakel, DD602. How do I replace the seal oround the top. It has a cut in it.

The lid seal in DD602 works like a balloon. If the seal is cut then the air escapes and will cause the lid not to seal leading to leakage and flood switch trip which shuts dishwasher down.

See the following video.
You can buy the seal from this site but use the correct product code of your dishwasher to make sure you get the right part. The product code is engraved on the label located on the front under the top drawer.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Just os you know there are 12 models of this dishwasher and you only gave a partial model number. It is missing several digits after the last G. The symptom you describe would be applicable to all 12 models.

There are a few things that can cause this symptom.
1. Debris in the motor pump impeller (Things like toothpicks or small bones / bone fragments)
2. The motor pump seal has failed letting water into the motor bearings.

^--- These are the 2 most common reasons.

Take a look under the motor pump assembly for the tell tale signs of water dripping onto the floor under the dishwasher. (stains or a circular soap pattern) If you see a water or a soap stain on the floor the motor pump seal has failed and the only remedy is replacement of the motor pump assembly.
See the link below:
Detailed view with 3 Views below link:

There is a possibility that the impeller is jammed with something but if the unit is 4 or more years old, most likely is the motor pump seal has failed causing subsequent motor bearing failure. It is best to remove the motor pump assembly for any attempt at clearing foreign debris from the pump impeller. Also look for a broken impeller blade during the clearing / cleaning process. If you thnk the motor can be salavaged make sure to lunricate the bearings with a paraffin based oil. We use the "Zoom Spout" Olier
available at most LOCAL appliance parts sources.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

DD602 model. while running upper washer appears that the seal/gasket around the whole upper is not working as water makes it out of basin and on to the middle shelf, then drips on floor. is there a way to...

I had a air leak so that it would fail to keep a seal.
To find out what was going in a made up a hose, which I could put in line and fitted in a pressure gauge.  It showed that the pump was pumping, but the exhaust valve had a small leak.

Also, the pumps loose effciency as the butterflay valves wear.
Kit PH2 PN528148 Pump/Exhaust valve fixes this.
I reckon that this is the biggest weakness in FP dishwashers.
It would help kit of parts to repair solenoid & pump were available.
The coils just do not go faulty, so why replace them.

Beeping and red light stating U3

Hi and welcome.
You posted your question in the DD/DS603 series section, but code U3 is usually seen on a DD/DS601 or DD602 series. When this code appears, most comon cause is that the machine is set in LP or LOW PRESSURE mode and needs to be set to HP or HIGH PRESSURE.
The fault is sensing water level too high in the drawer, which can also be caused by a blocked drain or inoperative pump. I can tell you exactly how to tell if the machine in in the wrong mode if you can tell us the correct model number. The machine's pump/drain system can easily be checked by putting the machine in diagnostic mode and running the drain pump.

Maytag quiet plus II - leaking water

Check under while the washer is filling and draining. You could have a loose clamp on a hose, the seal on the shaft may only leak while doing these. On the other hand, more times than not, rodents seem to enjoy chewing on washer catch basins.
