The run capacitor is probably bad. The run capacitor is usually a two part component. One part serves the fan and one part serves the compressor. Sometimes when they fail the fan will even run backwards instead of just stalling. Replace it.

Double check how the new one is wired. Your symptoms really point to a problem with it.

I have a CK49-1 Goodman A/C unit, It's not cooling down I can here it running/humming but the fan is not spinning

Turn off unit now!!! You are about to burn up compressor (very expensive to replace). Either the fan motor has burnt out or the relay for the fan has burnt out.

Turn AC on and only get a hum, no Fan. Repair

It does not make sense they overlooked it. It does make sense the fan motor is bad.
A fan motor must have a new capacitor. I would ask for a labor adjustment on the original repair.

My goldstar turns on and hums, but no cold air. then it blows a circuit breaker

First you should check the power for short circuit, second you have to check the fan motor if it is burnt or not, third check whether the compressor is burnt or not. These are the three reasons. If the powering is short circuited change the cables from the mccb.If the fan motor is burned out replace the fan motor or rewind the fan motor. If the compressor is burnt out replace the compressor, evacuate the refrigeration system and charge the refrigerant.

I thought i smelled the ordor of burnt wire coming from somewhere in the house, which I could not figure out where it was coming from. I tried to regulate the therostat and found the a/c would not come on....

sounds like a siezed up blower motor inside your furnace if you were running your air conditioner with out the blower motor it will turn everything into a block of ice at your indoor coil you need to let this thaw out
i would recommend calling a heating an air conditioning company

Ac unit is humming fan is not turning

hi there,
defective fan motor, this means stuck up motor the running winding is functioning but it can't star to drive your motor so the current inside motor produce vibration that why it create humming, several causes to be consider, bearing are worn out, defective fan capacitor, the fan is obstructed by object.there is no supply on starting capacitor, check if there fan relay overload protection reset it on control panel,
also,if humming is came from compressor, definitely because
fan is to reject heat,if no fan compressor will hum due to refrigferant in the system is not flowing,on high side, have this check by a/c technician nearewst on you.have a nice day dont fforget to rate me ,thank's

Emerson quiet cool

a real hummer. humm can be the sound of a short.but it sounds since u did only turn the fan on it hummed ...fanns are blower motors in acs the motor I bet ate it and needs a new one no way of fixing the motor but most are easy and cheap to replace...go or call an ac applance man ...see if he got a good used one for you or go the manufacture take model make serial no. sometimes u can spin the fan while on and it takes off again...this is dangerous so use a plastic long something but will dy again after u turn it off. good luck. Hums and freezes up????

The fan motor must have been stopping. If the fan stops, for sure the fins will freeze because there is no air flowing. common Fan motor problems defective bearing or bushing and starting condenser. If the bearing is defective, it will heat up and seize. Have the fan motor checked. The fact that the fins are freezing, means that there is enough freon and the compressor is working.
