Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I have a Denon ADV-M51. When I switch on the power button( On/Standby button), instead of going from Red to Green, it goes from Red to Green and immediately into blinking Orange. Nothing I press seems to turn it to the Green On light. Could you advise on what I need to do to get it to switch on to Green and work again? Thanks.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: No Power

I mwas gonna suggest that you need the speakers attached but you stated later that it did the same thing with the speakers attached. The unit switching off after it checks its self is NOT a normal thing. TAKE IT BACK BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!! GOOD lUCK

If your amp looks like it's going to work as normal (ie the front display lights up as it should etc), but then the amp goes into protection mode when the anti-thud circuit times out, then I know what's likely to be wrong.

It's one of the power amplifier channels which has gone faulty.

I just found this out after having this problem with my AVR-1906.

I took the amp apart and de-soldered the suspected channel power transistors (centre channel in my case).....and hey-presto! it fired up as normal (obviously the centre channel would be out of service).

I have ordered the replacement transistors from Farnell (UK) at a miserly cost of around £2-£3 each.

Just waiting for them to arrive.

An alternative is, if you don't use all your channels, take the transistors from a known working but not needed channel and swap them over with the duff ones.

Hope thats of use!

Try unplugging the entire unit and letting it sit for 5 minutes. See if this helps. If not, you need to do a complete reboot, which will cause you to lose your settings, but will probably solve your problem. To do a complete reboot, you will need to hold down two of the front bottons on the front panel. I'm not sure which, so either consult your manual or see other posts here which describe the reboot process for Denons. Hope this helps.

Denon CD not switching on

The lightening causes a strong electro magnetic field to build up very quick and also break down. This pulse can induce a huge current in electronic equipment, causing damage in semiconductors.
The damage can be in any of the components in your Denon. It also could be only one semiconductor. FET's and MOS FET's are the most vulnerable.
Without a service manual, tools and the Denon on my desk it would be impossible to tell what is damaged.
But I would trust not any component in the player.

Is the red light flashing at first?
The unit may be going into protect mode. Lets hope it has done the job and the receiver has protected itself from failure.
Protect mode can result from speaker wires touching each other or the Amps2_bing.gif metal case. Check that first.
It can also be caused by unstable ohm loads if too many speakers2_bing.gif are connected to any of the outputs especially zone 2.
If you can remove all speaker wires and turn the unit back on. If it stays on, turn the volume down on the main zone and zone 2 if connected. Then reconnect speaker wires.

Wii standby light

To be precise, you can turn this option off from the Wii System settings -> Wii Connect 24 -> standby connection -> off

When this setting is swiched to off, your console shuts down entirely and there is a RED light on the power button. There will be no need to turn off the console pressing the power button.
