I want to drive 5 displays from one pc. can i install a matrox 9148 and use the onboard grpahics card shipped with my pc for the fifth screen. it is an NVIDEA GEforce card.

No, you cannot do that, they are different brands, are using different video drivers and Windows cannot run more than a single video driver at a time.

I just purchased a Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Edition for my MacBook Pro. I have followed the installation instructions correctly (to the best of my knowledge) and I can't get the external displays to...
I suspect that you didnt install any driver for it ..and this may cause the issue..This is not a plug and play device and need a driver to work ..If you do not have a driver for mac on the disk here is something that may work it ..and run it ..and after that try to configure from the software ..It may be needed to lower the resolution to a max of 1360/768...but for a normal 19 inch monitor will be enough 1152/864 ..this will be the best choice ..

MATROX PARHELIA 128 Mb card. When I turn on my PC it says error with this card which has been on my system for ages. I still have the original software CD. The CD installation process is not clear. How do...

A clean install is always better than an overwrite.

In Windows XP preferably in Safe Mode, to uninstall a device, you can try:
1. right click on My Computer, click on Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager button, expand your Display Adapter, right click on the device such as your Matrox Parphelia, click on Uninstall;
2. open your Control Panel, click on Add or Remove Programs, highlight Matrox Parphelia, click on Change/Remove; and/or
3. Click on Start, click on Run, type "regedit", click on Edit, click on Find, type "Matrox", delete entry, press F3, do the same and delete all instances of Matrox.

To install, reboot your PC, insert Matrox driver/installer CD and follow on screen instructions. If it does not auto start, open/explore your CD and click on setup.exe.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Intel onboard graphics card does not recognize two monitors connected through Matrox Dualhead2Go

You may have to upgrade to a new video card to get it to work properly. Onboard graphics are often crude with not much for options. Even a cheap video card should be good. Here are a couple of links to check compatibility:
Other solution is to re-install software for the Matrox.

Matrox AGP 450 dual vga troubleshoot A performing Video Card of this series worked well until Christmas Week (Dec24+ 2012). Have noted that this is the same date as an issued Matrox BIOS & Drivers update of the same coordinated magnitude. That Matrox update is designed to mesh with Windows Security pertinent to the newer WIndows 7 & * OS series; and appropriate video cards. The problem is that my PC won't activate a second monitor anymore but shows the port with that Matrox 450 dual VGA card. When cables & VGA ports are switched the activation issue is the same. If it is not cloning, then it is only activating a single monitor as default. I believe that this is due to the minimum resolution capacities expected with the Windows 8 security updates which Matrox met with its update to meet. My OS is Windows XP Pro Service 3 and previously had no problem. Only a cloning became possible and that was using the Matrox PowerSpace/Desk. The second monitor which I used as an independent with the dual monitor Matrox card is an Insignia Digital TV with a VGA PC monitor capacity. It is the series before MAC's were assigned to such units, and has a resolution capacity of 1200-1600 which may fall below the design (but not necessarily the security threshholds of the latest Matrox update/Windows update. FYI Matrox is not manufacturing the VideoCard with dual VGA ports anymore, and the newer series combine a VGA and a DVI pairing. If not otherwise resoluble, will have to resort to a new card or the external USB approach. Trying a roll back of the Matrox BIOS & drivers to circa 2008 did not resolve the issue.
