SOURCE: uploading video from Canon HG10 HD 40GB

Most video camera connect to Macs without ANY special drivers or software.... they just work. ... the same holds true for 99% of the digital cameras out there - just plug them in and they download to iPhoto. Video goes right to iMovie. USB is fine.

SOURCE: My Canon ZR45 has no picture on the lcd display

You have a case of CCD chip gone bad. It goes bad without notice and it happens to few ZR model camcorders. Unfortunately, ZR45 does not have CCD advisory with free repair from Canon. So the cost of repair may exceed the value of present value. For information, these models have free repair with CCD problem, ZR60,65,70,80,85 and ZR90. -James

SOURCE: Canon Hg 10 Vertical line on image

This camera outputs interlaced video files. That can be the lines you are talking about if you are playing it back on a PC. The camcorder itself will de-interlace the video during playback on the actual camera, but not the file. You have to either play it (60i) with a hardware or software player that de-interlaces in realtime, or export your video file into a progressive (or deinterlaced) format. Some cheap editors dont deinterlace. I use Adobe Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas.

I have a Flip Video Camera Ultra HD and When I plug it into my pc I have no DCIM folder

you can only record on the onboard memory, right ? or do you have an SD car reader on it ?

if it is onboard memory, then it might be dead ; maybe you could consider reseting the device to it's default config, or flash it's bios file...

I had an HG10 Canon HD camcorder, and one day the picture function died : couldn't record on the SD card and all pics in the DCIM folders were damaged/unreadable (even with perfect video mode, the HG10 is in a closet now...)

New batteries are not lasting longer than a day

Battery life can fluctuate greatly from day to day. It all depends on the type of photography you are doing. For example, on one day, you spent the day taking pictures outside in the sunlight, with no flash, and didn't use your camera's screen to review any of the pictures. The next day, you spent the day inside, taking lots of pictures using the flash, zooming in and out on people's faces and reviewing the pictures using the camera's screen.
Features like the flash, zoom, LCD screen and image stabilization (IS) use a great deal more battery life than if you were to not use any of those features. This could explain why it suddenly seems like the batteries aren't lasting more than a day.
However, if your photography habits have not changed enough to potentially affect battery life, there could be an issue with either the image stabilization hardware or the standby mode of the camera. If the image stabilization (a fully mechanical feature) is malfunctioning, it could be activating when it shouldn't be, such as when the camera is on but you aren't about to take a picture.
I would try testing the camera by taking pictures using different camera settings.
  1. Turn off the flash and image stabilization, use the viewfinder instead of the LCD live view mode, do not zoom in or out. Take as many pictures as you can before the batteries die.
  2. Keep the flash and image stabilization on, use the LCD live view mode, use the zoom frequently. Take as many pictures as possible before the batteries die.
With test #1, you should see much better battery life than with test #2. If you still experience decreased battery life either way, there may be a hardware issue with the camera. Should this be the case, contact Canon Support to find out whether or not your manufacturer's warranty covers this problem.

The LCD has gone to digital noise only. Can it be

Short answer is yes. I recently had a screen replaced on a HG10 HDD HD camcorder in the UK for about £100. You first point of call should be a Canon authorised repair centre for your country. Alternatively look on line for a camera repair centre on google.

I CAN HELP ON PARTS OF YOUR PROBLEM. FIRST, MOST CAMERAS DOWNLOAD IMAGES THAT ARE COMPATIBLE TO WINDOWS SYSTEMS, NOT MACS. FOR DOWNLOADING TO A MAC I'M AFRAID YOU'LL HAVE TO GO TO THE MAC WEBSITE. I'M A WINDOWS VISTA USER.
AS FAR AS THE HDMI PORT, THAT PORT IS AN OUTPUT PORT TO CONNECT TO A HIGH DEF. TV. YOU DO NOT WANT TO FORCE ANY CABLES INTO YOUR CAMERA ETC. CONSULT THE CANON WEBSITE FOR INFORMATION ON DOWNLOADING TO MACS. A STANDARD USB CONNECTION SHOULD BE FINE TO DOWNLOAD. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOME. SORRY I'M NOT UP ON MACS, BUT I'VE BEEN WITH WINDOWS SINCE WIN3.1 OR EARLIER. GOOD LUCK!

I also have t-70 that I bought when they were released and I worry about the same thing. Everything that I have been able to find on the internet is that Canon no longer makes replacements and no third party has come forward with one. I went on Ebay and found another t-70 that is in excellent condition for $50.00 to use as a parts donor in case something happens to my original. The only bad thing is that I have been using that one also, I keep that one loaded with B+W and the original loaded with color.

Black lcd monitor with lines runing arond it like crazy Any Help

oh. good. its not fault of LCD. your CCD has fault.
according to your problem you wont get photos also recorded in your camera i think.

but if you are able to use a view finder and take photos means its not a costly fault.

else means try this.
connect it to your TV usng AV cord. if you are able to see pictures means there is some fault with the connections inside for LCD from CCD.
