Re: Need help with the system

Did you connect your TV to the DVD player via video cable (S-video, composite, or component)? That might be why you cant see the screen and stuff. To connect to TV, just connect your VIDEO OUT on the dvd player to the VIDEO IN on your TV. About that can hook it up, but it will only have as much punch as the player will allow. In other words, dont expect much out of a 20" sub if you have a 100 watt system.

Will play rental dvd's but won't play store bought dvd's

quite possible that the copyright was over ridden and the laser isn't reading the correct format. most dvd's are written in AVI or MPEG or MOV format. a copyright off the main disk has a protection line in it when the dvd is re-recorded that locks out the disk's contents. a regular recorded dvd plays.

Does not read cd or dvs

Could be many things. But it probably needs a new pick-up (laser). You can try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab.

DVD's won't play

I have a somewhat similar problem, but wasn't after a cleaning disk use. Most of the time when I try to use this system now, after I put a DVD in, I start getting a loud buzzing noise (almost as if gears are meshing)

No audio with CD/DVD but works fine with aux and FM

Check the cable between the media centre and bass module for signs of damage (if its buried in the wall / under the floor and you can't check it, assume it could be damaged).

however, this sounds like a fault with the Digital Analogue Converter - this coverts the digital audio on a disc to analogue information the amplifer can use to produce sound. Contact your retailer for exchange / repair.....

Philips hts 6510 no disk prompt does not play dvd

Ok looks llike a lens problem..Try this
Get a lens cleaner CD with liquid..Put two drops of liquid on the brush of the lens cleaner..insert the CD in your drive and play it..If it plays fine otherwise you will need to replace the lens..Get it replaced rather..should run you about 25-50$.If you want to get it repaired give it for repair only in a Philips showroom..
Good luck!
