Question about Memorex MHD8021 (2 GB) MP3 Player

Open Question

Replace Battery Anyone know where to get a replacement battery for a Memorex MHD8021 MP3 Player? The current one is labeled: PL-423258 5C2702006 I100EL Or do you know the rated voltage so I can cobble up a substitute? I tried to Google the numbers but found nothing. Thanks.

SOURCE: charging the battery by the computer

Reformat the player - the instructions are in your user's manual, which can also be obtained off the internet at:

If that fails, get the firmware upgrade from the above-mentioned website

Re-format it. plug it in and open my computer and right click on the mp3 player icon. the menu should have a "format" item. When you do this you will lose all the stuff you put in it but it will work. im not sure for how long. i just did it to mine last night.

I work for Memorex tech support. Our number is 800-919-3647.

You can't sync the Memorex player to iTunes, however, you can copy music from your iTunes library for use on your Memorex. First you must convert the music you want to copy into .mp3 format since iTunes uses a different format (AAC) as its default. Follow the instructions below to change the import settings in iTunes:

1. Choose Edit> Preferences, click the General tab, then click Import Settings.

2. Choose MP3 Encoder from the Import Using pop-up menu.

Once that's done, go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert. Once they're highlighted, right-mouse click and you'll see an option for Create MP3 version. This will not effect iTunes ability to play the music and if you have an iPod, it will not be effected either. After the conversion is finished, I suggest draging the songs you want for your Memorex player to a folder on your desktop. These .mp3 files can be copied onto your player and will play just fine.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Mines doing this too - I reset by inserting a paperclip into the tiny reset hole on bottom right side of unit. Pain to have to do every time but it solves issue.

How would i know that it is getting charged

When charging, the battery indicator will cycle from the current battery level to full. Once the battery is fully charged, the indicator will stop cycling.

Typically it takes approx. 6 hours to charge the battery from empty to full. (MMP8565 2GB Digital Audio Player)

Memorex MMP8002 my player will not start and does not recognize my computer connect it to my computer and restart any and from there not light nor my computer recognizes

does the player switch on at all? does it have a replacable battery, if not leave it plugged into a charger or computer for an hour to see if it puts any charge into it, and if the mp3 player has software then install it but only if you can get it to switch on. if nothing happens after doing all that then the player either has a faulty internal battery or the player itself is faulty.

How to replace battery?

The clip on the back can be used as a turn-knob. Twist it off, and the back comes off. I doubt that anyone has the correct battery however. This player is one of the more problem-laden mp3 players out there, so a return of the item is not uncalled for.
