There is a difference between installation of workstation an server so you will need Dell installation CD for power Edge series of servers, you can download ISO image here from this link so download ISO image burn CD insert that CD on server and follow procedure.
you should be able to install WinXP on the server platform with no problems. I have several servers and have installed many different operating systems on them, even Linux.
yes you can do that but you need the drivers for the scsi interface. when you install windows xp (for example) i think you may have to press the f6 key on the installation to add these drivers.
Hi, check if the drive is showing in the bios of the server, shut down the server, take out the power cable, press and hold the power button so as to realease flea power, open the server, and reseat the data cable at both ends and if there is another power cable available in the server swap it with the existing cable plugged into the scsi drive.
and now try to start your server. Further Queries are welcome
During the Windows XP setup you will need to provide the RAID driver using a pre-formated floppy disk.
Windows will ask you if you want to provide additional drivers and give you the key combination to use to do that.
hello
if you havent solved your problem yet, you should use the ideata driver that came with the motherboard, their driver was designed for that motherboard where as the one from novell is a generic and may not be compatable whith the chipset on your motherboard.
if there isnt a novell ide driver on the motherboard cd try the motherboard manfacturer's web site.
if they dont have one the motherboard might not be compatable with novell.
you can research the chipset on your motherboard and using that you might be able to find a driver thru someplace like driverguide.
good luck.
