SOURCE: canon pixma mp 160

don't know if it's the same problem i had but its maybe worth a try. My paper went in a little, the wheels were turning but it didn't take the rest of the paper or print.
Yesterday someone replied to my problem, i tried it this morning and its fixed 1st time.
Solution:- Use a piece of thin card, a magazine cover is what i used, make sure its A4 size then try to print something, as the paper starts moving push it through! and hey presto it worked for me, everything printing fine now

SOURCE: Canon MP 510 paper jam

I had the same problem and found a small coin in the back feeder. Remove the back coverplate and tip the machine onto its back and give it a good shake. You might be surprised at what falls out.

SOURCE: why my scanner does not work?and my printer

Thats like asking why your engine works but your tires are flat. You need scanning software on your computer for the scanner to work, but if you just want a copy you press copy. It won't scan until it knows where to send the scan and how you want it scanned.

On the printer the "paper" light turns on regardless of how big the roll of thermal paper in it is. If we open the lid then close it this will occasionally fix the problem temporarily. I have tried to

Take the paper roll out and on the left side down the bottom you will see something that looks like a small light. That is the paper low sensor. Clean the dust out of that with a microfibre cloth. Also, the lever on the left side where the paper goes in adjusts the sensitivity - try moving that up or down.

Paper jam

It sounds as if the paper is jamming in the fusing unit, which is where the heat roller melts the toner into the paper. This can be due to the heat roller starting to go bad. If it looks like there is toner build up on the roller, or if the teflon coating is starting to wear off, this will happen. Also make sure that the little fingers that ride on top of the heat roler, which prevents the paper from sticking to it, are seated correctly. The fusing unit may need to be replaced, or rebuilt.

Faxing up or down

Look at the hopper. It will almost certainly have a little graphic on it to tell you which way up the document goes.

If it looks like a sheet of paper with lines of writing on, the paper goes in print side up.

If it looks like a sheet of paper with one corner folded over, and lines of writing visible only on the turned over corner, then it goes in print side down.

If you can't find the graphic, then experiment: Take a blank sheet of paper. Write "Up" on one side and "Down" on the other then stick it into the machine so the writing is telling the truth. Most fax machines have a copy mode - use this to see which side of the paper the machine reads (if you can't get it to copy, fax your page to somebody and get them to phone back to tell you which side of the page they've received).

Error E3 on Pixma MP160

Looks like there is something stuck in the insides of the printer preventing it from running to one side. A small paper clip, Ball pin etc., can cause this. You might have to take it apart and look for it. I had fixed a similar problem recently and the stuck object is "HAIR BALL!"

Paper jams at fusion stage

I keep getting paper jammed at the fuser every single attemp to print. It's difficult to remove and the paper often tears when trying to pull it out.

This is most annoying since the printer is just outside of warranty and i just bought a new black toner cartridge. They don't make this printer anymore and I'm afraid the cost to repair would most likely exceed $200.

Looks like I have a nice new boat anchor now :(
