Went to start my XL500 homelite chainsaw and the rope won't pull out.It worked fine when I ran it dry for storage, now it seems like th sprocket won't turn. looks like chain oil is comming out


If it is bar oil then the gasket is leaking between the oil tank and the crankcase, this would mean a full strip down and replace the gasket.

Because something else is wrong with the engine.

My Husqvarna 350 bogs down and is not turning the chain.


something is pinching the chain when you have the side cover on. either the bar isn't sitting flush to the saw or you don't have the chain in the sprocket correctly and that is causing it to bind

a binding tumbler would do it try and tap on the face of the cylinder with a small hammer to loosen it up tap on it not beat on it

Chain won't move after chain replacement


Had this happen to mine when I was limbing stuff that was too small. I know better. There is probably a burr on one or more of the guide portion of the links where they run in the bar. This causes that link to be tight in the bar at this point. The chain probably hit something on the body of the saw when it flew off. Take the bar off the saw and run the chain through the groove in the bar. If you have any links with nicks, they will bind, causing the chain to stick and not run freely. Once you've identified the problem links you can remove the nicks using 120 grit paper backed up with a flat piece of steel so you only remove the high spots.

I have a 1998 Ford Windstar. Got in to drive, turned the key to start and 'snap' something seems to have broke within the ignition lock cylinder... all of the accessories are on... the key...


This happened to to me with my ranger. I went and bought in ignition and a junk yard and no problems after that. That way your not out of a lot of money.

My 1972 cl 100 while riding locks up back tire and then skids to a stop and shuts off what is the problem


If you are in gear when your rear tire locks up, that will also stall out your engine. Conversely, if your engine seized up while you were in gear, that would lock up your rear wheel from the other direction. However, as it sounds like you can restart your engine, that's probably not the case. One way to check is that if your wheel starts to lock up, immediately pull in the clutch. Your engine should keep running, even as your rear wheel is skidding along.

If the problem is in your rear wheel, there aren't a whole lot of things to check. This bike uses a rear drum brake, so check to see that's not binding in any way. I suspect that it won't be. A stronger possibility is that your rear bearings are worn out or insufficiently lubed. If they get hot enough and expand enough, they'll seize up your rear wheel. Pulling the rear wheel and cleaning / lubing the bearings would eliminate this possibility. If the bearings are dark colored and/or have flat spots, that's a sure sign that they've been abused and need to be replaced. A third possibility that comes to mind is that your chain and rear sprocket might be excessively worn. An old chain, with one or more rusty links, could kink up and jam. I once bought a bike with a nasty old chain and it did this on occasion. It would work fine for a while, but then kink up. Replacing the chain (and the sprockets, because they, too, were very worn) solved the problem for that bike.
