Sewing machines don't have bobbers. Bobbers are for fishing.

Brother sewing machine model vx 1140

Try these suggestions

1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed

2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide

3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case

4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever

5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads

6. Also could be a timing problem, and the machine would need to be checked.

Bobber mechanism will not spin the bobber

since it's set up for six years, it would be a good idea to have the machine serviced. it setting up may be the cause of the bobbin spindle not working

I need a manual for aBrother sewing machine vx1140

The only download I could find for your sewing machine on the Brother website is the manual in French.
A Startpage.com search for "Brother VX1140 manual" turns up many sites offering paper manuals for sale - the lowest price I saw was $7.99 plus shipping.

I have a jones vx810 and have taken the tension dial apart and now icant put it back together as idont know what goes where

you can purchase a new tension dial here
http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/tension-brother-vx-800-sewing-machine.aspx for your machine. This may be simpliest solution.

there is also a manual on that site http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/instruction-book-brother-vx810-sewing-machine-instruction-manual.aspx but I can't see images to know if it includes an exploded diagram of the tension dial.
