We have a PTC22MFMBLCC GE fridge. It has developed a small leak that seems to be coming from the bottom front, around the water dispenser tube. It seems to only drip when someone uses the water dispenser, so I'm guessing it's just a small leak somewhere in the tubing. Any way to fix it myself, or should I call the repairman?

SOURCE: leak from bottom of fridge

Two things might be happening. One is the line to the fridge is leaking, this line come thru the floor or wall to the bottom and hooks up to a water valve, it may just need tightening. The other problem is you will have a hose that runs from the filter down in behind the crisper drawers to the bottom and coils up here to hold water for cold use. it then runs thru the bottom pan out to the front, to the bottom door hinge on the freezer side up the door to the dispencer. Check along the hose for a pin hole look at the bottom hinge area first, things bump into it here and can damage the plastic cover.

SOURCE: Hi GE top freezer fridge - 5 years old( no ice

Well for one thing that unit was manufactured 10 years ago. But it sounds like the defrost drain is clogged and the water is running down the inside of the unit. The evaporator (not condenser) is on the bottom of the freezer compartment. The bottom panel of the freezer comes out. They are a bit of a pain to do, but can be done.

SOURCE: Water pools on the floor

check the water line back near the rear of the unit, sometime back i had the same issue and the plastic water line that comes off the water dispensing solenoid valve touched the hot compressor body and became brittle from heat and vibration of the compressor,it developed a crack and leaked in the same areas you commented on,so when you press the water dispenser paddle it opens the valve and leaks only then as you stated,i hope this helps you, please rate this if so

Why is there water dripping from the bottom of the water/ice dispenser

The solenoid valve that controls the water dispenser is leaking internally. It will be a double valve (one for ice, the other for chilled water) located at the bottom of the frame in the back of the unit. To find it, just trace where the plastic tubes originate from.

Easy to replace.

These leaks are sometimes caused by particles getting trapped on the valve seat. This can be prevented by use of an inline water filter on the copper supply line.

My Amana french door/bottom freezer is leaking water. Did the procedure with hot water the drain in back of the freezer, although it seemed clear of ice. That didn't help. The leaking stops when I...

Two possibilities:
1. A cracked plastic tube. These will leak whenever there's a call for water - either the chilled water dispenser, or re-filling the icemaker tray (two seperate tubes). Pay particular attention to anywhere the tubes are clamped to the chassis; anywhere they're routed near or under the refrigeration unit; and near the solenoid valve - especially if there's a tight loop in the tube there.
2. A bad (leaking) connection where one of the tubes exits the water valve. Again, these will leak whenever the valve is activated.

Those plastic tubes don't last forever. I've replaced many of them for the same symptoms. They're known to simply deteriorate with age.
Manuf's make good money selling replacement tubing kits.

Water leaks from tube at the bottom of fridge for water dispenser only

If it is a plastic compression fitting you can tighten each one a little(careful not to tighten them too much cause they can strip out) Use a small crescent wrench with a back up wrench.

Something leaking from dispenser frame

You can remove the frame around the dispenser by pulling it gently and then you access to the screws that hold the dispenser in place. Could be a spillage behind the frame. Good Luck.

Ge fridge

the panel comes off the outside of the door, probably a cracked or loose water line. use care when prying around on the front panel, look for small screws in the bottom of tray drain (which should lift out ).
