Toshiba 46H84 with vertical bars, how do I fix this?

Doesnt matter which input I use. It doesnt get better over time. I have sound. I tried the auto convergence but that didnt clear the problem. I am computer tech, but clue how to fix this. Is there a kit available to fix this? Can this be fixed in service mode?

If you are getting noise lines left to right etc do some research to see if this set has a Hyper board which has about 12 surface mounted caps inside that can cause this issue, not real easy to replace and COMMON on a lot of the Toshiba sets.

It does have a hypermodule part number MHSU11. To be clear the lines are white about an inch apart across the screen, kind of like jail bars but wavy.

yes, In our shop we long ago gave up trying to fix those as too time consuming---you may want to look around as I did (can't find it) as there was a service bulletin for one of these Hyper boards with a photo of the board---all the caps that failed were circled in the photo--its from Toshiba.

SOURCE: Can anyone tell me approx. how much it is to fix a

Hello, If you were able to do the job yourself the part runs around $80 to $100 but this would require you to understand how to solder. I would say if you this is the case it would be worth fixing. If you took the tv to a repair man it would run you somewhere around $400 to $600 to have it repaired. Im sure you know how much these cost and know that you could buy a better tv for that kind of money. I hope my information was helpful and if it was please dont forget to rate my answer. I hope you have a great weekend. :>)

Vertical red lines no matter what input.

I'm assuming you're dealing with an LCD flat panel monitor.

If you've tried different input and from different computers and different cables, and you're still seeing vertical red lines, it's highly likely that the LCD is failing and there's not much that can be done easily to fix it. You will probably need to replace the LCD panel.

If the red lines are in different locations each time you power on, then it could be a controller board issue. But, if the lines are always in the same place, it's probably the LCD panel itself.

I have vertical lines on my screen. They appear to

This a common problem in many of the Toshiba sets----set has a "HYPER" circuit board that processes all the signal for the set--surface mounted caps all start to dry out--always starts out where it will have the problem and then when on for a while it gets better and goes away--eventually when enough of the caps are gone--it never gets better.

Board is now only available by removing it and sending it out for rebuild/repair---company doining this is Pts electronics--part number is:

23148103Cost is about 180 dollars plus shipping and this may mean considering the labor to get the board out that the set is not worth repairing.

Sorry to give you bad news but I am certain this is what your trouble is.

I do this here for free so if this information helped you to decide what to do--take a minute and give me a vote here.
