OK, you will need to pull the relay on the compressor and give it a shake. If it rattles, it is bad and needs to be replaced. Here is the part to order. Here is a video to walk you thru the process.

My relay cover differs from that in the video so I'm unable to remove it to get to it to pull and shake. I thank youi for your suggestion, but will need to have a service man.

Moved unit to new loation plugged in and it started running and then open the refrigerator door and the unit stopped.

the move and opening the door didn't cause problem ck the plug in the wall and is light inside on . if not re ck power . if light is on it may have gone into a defrost cycle and it will not run for 1/2 hr . if it didn't start up then ck the cold control . these are some of the things that may have caused this . mm hope these help .

Freezer doesn't stay cold enough when unit was moved to garage. At the highest setting food thaws out. Could it have something to do with it being cold in the garage? What do you think it could be?

Most likely when the unit was moved some one immediately plugged the unit in. As the unit was moved oil from the compressor was introduced into the cooling lines and the dryer / capillary tubes. The dryer has a form of dessecant in it to remove moisture from the cooling system. When oil was intorduced it causes the crystals to swell up and restrict freon flow. You will probably have to call for servicing of the unit as the freon wil have to be drained and the dryer changed to return back to normal use.

I have a maytag side by side refrigerator model: MSD2651HEW. We just recently moved and when I plugged the unit back in it is on and appears to be running fine. The problem is that it has been on since...

You moved the frig to a new home? Did you lay it on its back? If so it may have caused the freon to leak out. Check the knob in the frig to see if the controls are set in place.. usually its a knob that goes from 1 to 5.

My maytag neptune mah550bww will not start up , gives a code FL

The FL error code means:
Flood Condition: FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

This problem i see on these are the water pumps getting clogged with lint or other things, causing the pump not to pump all of the water out at times.

There is a backup valve or flap in the drain assembly that seems to sometimes cause problems with the FL error code. Remove this piece to see if it helps.

If this is a new installation - check that the hoses arent reversed (cold on hot and hot on cold). This will also cause the FL error.

After freezer was moved not getting cold

Unplug the unit and leave it undisturbed for 24 hours. Plug the unit back in again and see if it will come to temp.

Moved refrig. and compressor will not kick in

The unit may have gone into the defrost cycle. The fans and compressor will be off during the defrost cycle. Has the unit been plugged in for more than 30 minutes since you noticed it stopped? If so, you will see a round plastic knob recessed about 8" back in the console on the fresh food ceiling. Rotate this knob clockwise with a flat blade screw driver until a distintive click, louder than the tiny clicks made while rotating the knob. If the fans and compressor come on, replace the timer (68233-3).
If the fans and compressor do not come on after rotating the timer, you may have a bad cold control of loose wire in one of the molex connectors from the move.

FL showes up and when I unplug the unit and wait and plug the unit back in the same thing FL and the beeping still come back. Where is the fill plug switch?

FL is a flooded machine most likely due to a bad drain pump. See my solution under this web sites solved problem section for the question "Washer displays FL code." My solution is dated 9-29-2007 and tells where to purchase pump and motor, now a one piece unit, and how to remove and replace. Good Luck
