Question about NorStar M7310 Corded Phone

1 Answer

Old Norstar phone-one line seemingly tied to one extension

Call came in on main line, I placed on hold. I then, intercomed the extension I wanted. He never picked up, he just answered that he didn't want the call. When I went back to the caller, I couldn't get to the call. Now everything is tied to his intercom. Everytime I pick up that line his intercom immediately rings. And I have to go all the way to his office, hit intercome and release for it to stop ringing. Can someone help?

You most likely need to call in your tech who looks after the programming there.
Needle in haystack, sticky button, bad programming, glitch in system, answer dn etc.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Intercom

This is a programming issue with the phone .There should be a pull card located in the base of the phone that will give you instructions on how to program the phone.

SOURCE: Incoming calls ring on intercom rather than appropriate line.

Somehow you might have taken the lines off the extension. I would double check that under line appearance, that extension is set to "appear and ring" for each line.

SOURCE: lines ring to intercom

It sounds like although they're labeled as line buttons actually they're programmed as station buttons.
If you press feature *0 and one of the buttons it will tell you what the button is programmed as.
Also did you try pressing the intercom button then dialing 9? that might be the way the set was programmed.

should you dial 9 or another access code for outside calls?

If if you dial an "outside" number on an intercom line it will look at the first 2-3 digits as another extension. You need to dial the Central Office access code, or use a line key assigned to an outside line.

New phone - plug in, know what the extension is, how do I know what the direct line is?

If you want to know the extensions number of your phone of any information about the programed feature on any button you just click on feature (button with nortel logo) then * then 0 then the button and it will give the information about the button. For extension you should use the intercom button which is normally last button on the buttom of your rigth hand side.

How do I turn off the ringer on my extension so that everytime a call comes to the main switch I can't hear it -- I only want to hear the intercom rings

No where have I seen this answer documented in the user guide. LUCKILY someone from our company in past did document the procedure. Feature **266344, PW: 266344 (this is different from the listed PW of 26346). Press the top arrow on the right. Enter the extension you want to turn off. Press the top right arrow again twice until you see Line assignment and press the top right arrow again. Enter the line you want to change (001) Then hit "change" until you see the status you want to achieve (appear only). Scan through all the remaining lines in your trunk. Don't worry- only took me an entire day to find this configuration!
