That information is in your installation manual that came with the oven.

If for some reason you don't still have that, then you can order it or see a video at LG's site.

The LG product support page for your model is here.

If you'll scroll down to the middle video, they show you how to install it.

That will help you when you uninstall the oven so you can swap the vent fan assembly around.

I would bet you'd also need to order a charcoal filter.

The service manuals is here, but it does not contain part numbers.

You can get LG part numbers and order parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Testimonial: "Thank you so much. You are correct in that I don't have the manual that came with the oven as I am not the original owner. What you have said here sounds exactly right based on my (albeit limited) research; I think you're right that I have to get a charcoal filter. And a smooth-face vent plate as well. Thank you, I really appreciate your help! "

SOURCE: Installing a Whirlpool over the range microwave

I would say that you do not have to vent it outside. One of the most common complaints I get is that the microwave is not sucking up a lot of air. I have called Whirlpool and they have said that most of these newer microwaves don't really have a lot of air movement in them and they have smaller blower motors. Some of this was due to the fact that people didn't like the noise of a big fan that was necessary fo move air. I have noticed this on my own also. When boiling sweetcorn this summer, it would barely **** up the steam whether it was recirc or to the outside, I usually test them by putting a cleenex under the vent abd see if it holds it there. Bottom line is they really don't move a lot of air and it's not worth the cost and time of venting it out. Hope that helps

Can i vent my jvm-1440 microwave/fan ?

yes, you can recirculate it out the front which i suppose u do currrently... you may also vent it out the top, or the rear. to do this u must drop the unit down, and rotate the fan motor to point the appropriate direction, and also install or have a exterior venting piping existing currently..

Still operable

HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.

(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side the magnetron)))

Change the venting from internal to external?

Hello staufferbi,
It is possible to redirect the vent to the outsied but it is not a simple task. First off, you will need to remove the micro from the wall cavity and reposition the blower so that it vents out the top and not the front, then cut a hole in the cabinet above the micro ( lined up to accept the rectangular duct ) These tasks require fairly good carpenmtry skills and may not be suitable for the novice.. In any event, if you do attempt this.. then once you have the duct vented through the cabinet from the top of the microm you will need to attach that to wall vent feedthru. This normally means converting the rectangular duct to 4inch round and using an elbow. Needless to say, it can be done but is fairly involved. I did not mention anything about getting a 4 inch hole thru the outside wall and not thru a wall stud.,. Outside walls are typically bearing walls and although your roof won't cave in if you cut a hole thru a stud, it isn't advisable. Then you have to make sure it is sealed thru the wall cavity and properly cut into your siding. As I said before..it can be done but don't think it is a little job..
Good luck
Rick

Outside venting GE Profile Spacemaker XL1800

Your vent flap could be taped or it could be faulty installation not allowing the vent to open. If you take the front vent cover off, you should be able to reach in above the fan unit and gently push the vent flap up, it should move freely with no binding. If it doesn't it is taped or blocked. If it is taped, gently putting upward pressure on the flap might release the tape. If that doesn't work the vent installation is blocking the flap. You might have to remove the unit from the wall (two people to do this) or disassemble the vent duct above the microwave and rework the interface for clearance.

hope this helps,

It doesnt matter how old a system was. components can be failed at any point in time. unplug the unit. carefully disassembly and visually check the diode near magnetron and capacitor, it might be broken. If seems good, check the thermostat continuity,if beeping. changage your magnetron. be careful capacitor store charges that deadly. discharge the capacitor first.
when you change mag. change the diode too.
