I have had my playstation 3 for about 17 months. but yesterday it just stoped working. I was paying a game when my I was sent to the shops, as usual I paused my game and whent out. I returned a short time later to find my ps3 off with the red ligth blinking, I asumed that someone had tripped the power but no one was even near it. As I turned it back on the green ligth came on for a second and then started blinking both red and green and then just started blinking red again. It would not responde to anythnig I did(press the ps buttun on controller or eject the disk).

This is error 80010514
I HAVE THE SOLUTION
after 30 hours of working with my PS3, taking it apart, cleaning the Blu-Ray lens, formatting the hard drive, restoring my PS3 deleting all of my data, and changing every setting possible. The solution to error 80010514 is clear to me now.
If you have tried to most of the things i have you think that you last option is to bite the bullet and send it in to Sony and pay the $150.
What Sony does when they get a system in for repair, is they put in a new hard drive, test it out and send it back!
From what i have heard, and experience, this solution is only temporary.
YOU NEED TO BUY A NEW HARD DRIVE
Sony puts in a refurbished hard drive which wont last very long and you have to send it back in a matter of months.
My friend sent in his PS3 that got the yellow light of death (YLoD) 3 times! and out of curiosity, he took out the hard drive before he sent it in. and he got it back with a refurbished hard drive in a couple of weeks.
Trust me I know everything about this error and if you have any questions, e-mail me at email@example.com

I am having the same exact issue myself. Starting a month or two ago, it got harder and harder to get PS3 games to play. Now it plays anything that is not blu-ray based. I would be very interested in hearing how you are able to fix the problem.
This could be any of a number of problems try these solutions one of
which may work. If they all fail to work you can contact sony directly

Remove any obstructions from the vents.
Allow at least 4 inches of clearance on all sides for the PLAYSTATION 3.
Remove the PLAYSTATION 3 from any cabinets so it is out in the open.
Shut the PLAYSTATION 3 down completely and let it cool down to room temperature, then try running it again.
If the fan cannot be heard before the system shut down, the PLAYSTATION 3 may need to be sent in for service.
If there is no airflow from any of the vents, the system may need to be sent in for service
Hi there. it sounds like the blue ray drive has failed on your ps3.I take it that sony repaired your old one or sent out a reconditioned unit? If it is still under warranty get them to replace it again and insist on a 12 month warranty. i am on my 3rd unit now and because its a 40 gig model which they dont make anymore i am having to do with yet another reconditioned unit. hope this helps.
PS3 is The amazing device by sony but it has some common problems like Disc read error etc.... Good news is that these all
problems can be repaired with the help of DIY Guides, one such guide
available at PS3 Repair Blog
The same problem happened to me yesterday, i was playing GTA IV then it suddenly stopped reading, and now i have a real hard time making one ps3 game work...the ps2 and psONE games work fine, but the ps3 ones dont load or take real hard work to make them load.
