No audio even though sterio wires are all connected


My 1997 Alpine CDE-7828's wiring schematic doesn't disclose one important thing for many older and possibly even some newer sterios (aka 'head units'). If all wires are connected per the sterio's schematic andf sound is missing, you probably have a dedicated pin on yout vehicle's harness/connector that will read something like 'Turn-on AMP signal", <br />until you jumper the ignition hot lead (between the harness plug and your sterio) to your vehicle's 'Turn-on AMP signal' pin/connector wire (add a wire if none is supplied in your vehicle's connector), you won't get any sound even though all the other wires are connected per your head unit''s instructions.

Left side turn signals not working


Hi Anonymous, you could have a faulty module, check your wiring and connections from the turn signal switch to the turn signal module with a testlite. Make sure all connector pins are corroded, broken, or loose. For a free wiring diagram please visit the website below:

If you have a service manual, please match the voltages as per that and problems might be in areas where these do not match. But read on what condition these voltages are to be checked, this is usually written in a service manual, i.e, without any signal or feeding some signal etc.

Fan doesn't when 6pin cable between power supply and PA, is plugged in, however fan works when disconnected from PA board


The fan control receives two signals from the HCA2400 power amp module. Pin 4 is labelled POS+ and pin 5 is labelled POS-.
These two interact with T14,T15,T16,T17, and finally T7 which gates a -21 volt power to the fan.
From the schematic, it appears that if POS- is more positive than about 20 vollts negative the fan will be held off. It appears that the POS+ signal controls the speed and as it goes more positive, this would DECREASE the speed. Pots VR2 and VR3 are used to set these thresholds and I do not have setup instructions for those... I would be very careful about adjusting them without the procedure. . HOWEVER, first thing is to verify that you have -21 volts DC on pin 2 of the fan connector. With the HCA2400 disconnected, the POS- will drift to -21 volts and POS+ should drift to somewhere around -6 to -8 volts judging from the schematic.
Trying to trace these two signals on the HCA2400 is very difficult and the schematic does not show where they go... I did find that pin 5 does go to one of the thermistors on the heat sink labeled R2 and one side of R1 goes to pin 3 which is -12 volts by tracing an HCA2400 I have open. Pin 4 seems to go to the other side of R2 so then the R2 thermistor connects between POS+ and POS-.
The room temp (71F) resistance of R2 seems to be about 112 ohms and rises with increasing temp. It appears that R1 is involved with a signal sent to the power supply called OFF which probably shuts down the supply if the HCA2400 gets too hot... so R1 thermistor on the HCA2400 would have nothing to do with the fan... I can;t verify that R2 does more than connect to pins 4 and 5 of the connector... there may be biasing resistors on the HCA2400... I would find it odd that VR2 and VR3 would both be connected in series effectively with R2 thermistor... so I suspect there are additional biasing on the HCA2400 that one of the tweek pots conrols the ability to run and the other controls the speed above that... Please note that the resistance measurements of R2 are made on an HCA2400 that a hacker all but destroyed...

The DB15 VGA (Video Graphics Array) connector contains however 15 pins in three rows of 5 pins each. These five pins carry the color and synchronisation signals, also a digital I2C interface for two-way communication between the video controller and monitor. The common 15-pin VGA connector found on most video cards, computer monitors, high definition televisions which support VGA connections. The following schematic diagram and table shows respectively connector and pin assignment of DB15 VGA.

Thought I would report my finding with this set. Maybe someone else is experiencing the same problem.

The set would turn on with no picture. No high voltage - no raster. By turning up the volume, you can hear some noise in the speakers. This set has many fuses and they all checked out ok.

I located some schematics on the net for the previous generation set - 40H80/56H80. I could not find any site with the 50H82 schematics without paying. The 40H80 seemed to match the 50H82 fairly closely. I checked the horizontal output transistor with a scope and found no signal. I traced the signal back to a board on the signal schematic called the DPC module. No HOT signal was being generated by this module. Per the schematic, I checked the voltage supply pins at this module and found everything ok except pin 6 which is supposed to be +12V. I traced this back to the power supply connector and found voltage (pin3 of 8 on BB30). Since I got the set for free and I was feeling risky, I shorted the +12V at the connector to pin 6 on the DPC. I got a small spark and the set shutoff, but I could hear static which indicated that the HOT briefly same on. I shorted out the connection again and turned the set on. This time is powered up and came back to life. I've run the set for a couple days so far and it appears to be working great.

I may have gotten very lucky, or I may be shorting out something that is not supposed to be shorted. I would really appreciate it if someone who has the real 50H82 schematic could check the connection between DPC pin 6 and the power supply connector BB30. If this is a real connection, I have to assume that the trace burned out somewhere. It vias up and down all over the place and is very hard to follow.
