Question about Samsung T220HD LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Black and White Video input

Any video input is black and white. I've tried 2 DVD players, and 2 yellow video input cords into each of the video component inputs (A single video input, not a component input, but it should work, yes?). The audio works fine, but the video is black and white, and has dots as well, almost like a comic book sort of feel.

It's not the DVD, the DVD player, or the yellow labeled video cords. Is there some way that I can reset everything to default using the remote? I've searched through the menu for ANYTHING, but to no avail. Maybe I missed something?

Plasma tv connections

What you need is a device called a multi-switch. Here's a page which details some of the switches available with different satellite setups. You would hook up your sat recievers, your TV and your recorder up to the multiswitch:

Rgb internal wires which ones can u use to convert it into red, white and yello at other end for tv

RGB is a term that means the guns in the crt or other display are only driven by amplifiers for that color. So you have to have seperate signals and inputs for red, green and blue. Those come from the source in that method. They are then fed into the monitor for which each of those colors has its own channel and amplifier. If you dont have something that is supplying the RGB singals then it is of no use. The colors that you listed as red white and yellow are for COMPOSITE video with AUDIO. The yellow is the whole video signal and the red and white are stereo sound signals. No attempts at making that work will correct this unless you buy a converter.

How can i play ps2 on lcd without having a black and white screen ? how can i connect the cables ?.....when i look at the back of my lcd i find three ports (red white yellow) when i use them the screen is...

1) The set of input (Yellow= Composite video, Red= Right channel audio, White= Left channel audio). This set of input is for composite video.

2) The set of input (Red= Red video signal, Green= Green video signal + sync, Blue= Blue signal, Red= Right channel audio, White = Left channel audio (the Red and White will be grouped close together). This set of input is used for Component video for HD signal.

You should try using composite video source (Yellow RCA jack) from DVD player and feed to the monitor and see if it works OK with all color showing that way we acn find out if it is the video source problem or the monitor video signal processing problem. Try the PS2 on the TV if it works OK also.

Purchased the Samsung SMT-190DN a year ago and came into our business and our screen is black. What can we do to get it fixed? Also, once fixed, can we view more than just 7 days of memory?

This seems to happen to a lot of then Either the Inverter Board is bad or the power supply board is bad. Good luck getting it fixed. Samsung seems not to even think they made them.
I emailed all over trying to get mine fixed with no luck. Do you mean the 7 day of recording, this will record til the day you turned it off YES!! even with the screen black it records DO THIS!!!
First... On the back of the monitor look for VIDEO OUT Its down near the Camera wires
Do you have a set of VIDEO and AUDIO cables there red, white,&yellow????
Get a 19'' tv with video and audio INPUTs NOW!! with the RED cable hook it to the Monitor Video out and the other red end to the tv Video in Just the RED ONE don't worry about white or yellow.
NOW turn the Security Monitor ON , NOW the TV let them warm up The tv must be in Video1 or
Video 2 ---NOW YOU SHOULD SEE THE CAMERA's or the screen POINT the remote at the monitor to do things like menu, search. Sorry I'm not to good at explaining things THIS Should work GOOD LUCK

I tried to hook up my dvd player and i get picture but no sound. when i put the cords in the back of the monitor there is yellow red blue green holes no white spot. Do i need different cords. I have tried...

That could be a result to that TV either not having the ports you need, or you may need different cords. On my TV. With the 360 they have two cords. Red,white, and yellow and also green blue and i think red but im not 100% sure. You may need to find a different port on your TV for your cords, or do what I do and have your VCR hooked up to your tv, and your DvD player hooked up thorugh your VCR. Hope this helps and don't forget to rate ^^
(and yes that yellow and white are a necessity)

No videp playback on Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD only getting sound !!!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents for those who might be having the issue of no video but hear audio. I was having the same problem. I had completed the bypass hack with a single throw/single pole (SPST) toggle switch. I could bypass the warning message and hit the OK button but no video. I did hear audio. I searched everywhere but solution 4 worked for me. The thing for me was that next to the black wire on the harness wasn't empty. It had a purple/white wire with some sort of filter (labeled backup camera hook to reverse gear). I tied into this wire before the filter with another wire (I chose a black wire b/c I was grounding it) and grounded it with the black wire (ground) on the harness. I now have video! Maybe the 4 pole relay hack would have worked better but I had only done the toggle switch hack. I hope this helps others and most importantly thank you Salhi.

No video in my philips dvd622

The black and white picture is caused by only 2 things.
  1. You are trying to play back an NTSC disc in a PAL dvd player (or the other way around)
  2. Your DVD player is set to NTSC when it should be set to PAL (or the other way around)
You will find options for setting PAL or NTSC in the setup menu under Video.

Component conecters

alright...those are Component Connectors...your DVD, and VHS will not work with that Monitor at all.

The Best and Cheapest Option...is to Buy a "Modern" DVD Player...which almost every single one Has Component Connectors.

On your Current DVD, VHS...ECT. The Red and White is Audio respectively, and the Yellow is the Video.

On a Component However the Red, Blue, and green...are all Video. You will need to use your "Current" Red and White Audio Jacks from your DVD and VHS Players on your New Monitor, and New DVD Player.

As Far as VHS is concerned...if you Buy a DVD/VHS Combo...you should have a S-Video Jack on Both the Monitor, and the DVD/VHS Player...Buy a S-Video Plug.

With that you will be able to watch both DVD's, and VHS Tapes without issue
