Question about Computers & Internet
When I try to update Bios from 1.0 to 2.0 on Toshiba Satellite A215-S7462 The computer 'locks up' (becomes completely unresponsive), and the computer's display goes blank (turns off).
BIOS! If it isn't broken don't fix it. Upgrading is a scapegoat fix, and many
manufactures have a disclaimer. "You are on you own", and the likes for a
reason. Most solutions are found elsewhere.
if you truly need to update read this to help you with the upgrade. You don't
want to end up with a brick.

First of all try this. Turn the laptop off and remove the battery. hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Plug just the AC mains power jack in and turn the laptop on.
If it boots all is well, turn the machine off, put in the battery.
Just out of interest can you remember who manufactured the BIOS? was it Phoenix or AMI?
