Question about Ascaso Dream Espresso Machine

The water pump for my Ascaso Dream isnt working. A very loud obnoxious noise is being made everytime we turn it on, but no water is getting through.

The water pump starts working and, after few seconds, it fades, it loses power and brews only few drops. I have cleaned my machine, "purged" it and it does not improve. It only brews when it has no coffee in it.

I had a similar problem and was able to fix it. First, try the 'priming' method described in the manual. If that doesn't work, try the below steps and then repeat the priming method.

    1) Remove the filter from the end of the tube in the water tank
    2) Insert the tube into the nozzle cap of a drinking water bottle (must be a tight enough fit not to leak)
    3) fill the bottle half-way and attach the cap
    4) hold the bottle up as high as the tube will allow (without kinking the tube)
    5) squeeze water into the tube and release
    6) if a bubble appears at the machine end of the tube, tap the tube until the bubble has risen into the bottle
    7) repeat steps 5 and 6 until no more bubbles appear

Now try to prime the pump (open the steam valve and run the pump until 1/2 cup of water comes out of the steam nozzle).

It worked for me... no guarantees that it will work for you.

Try the priming method described in the manual first.
If that doesn't work... the method below worked for me after my Dream was in storage for a year and had been shipped around a bit.
1) attach a water bottle to the tube in the water tank (you may have to remove the filter) - get a good tight seal and fill the bottle about half full with clean water2) hold the bottle up as high as the tube allows, without kinking the tube3) squeeze the bottle gently (there will be some resistance) so that water goes into the tube, and release4) a bubble will probably appear at the machine end of the tube - tap the tube until the bubble has risen into the bottle5) repeat 3 and 4 until no more bubbles appear6) remove the bottle and replace the water tank and tube filter7) prime the pump again (open the steam valve and run the pump to get 1/2 cup of water from the steam nozzle)8) make some coffee. Or, this might be a good time to descale...

Hi there,
It does sound like the pump. If it isn't sucking any water up and it is very noisy then it is def the pump. I can get these for you if you are still looking.

All the best

I think our heating element is bad on our Ascaso...we checked it with an ohm meter. When we turn it on, the water doesn't heat up, and there's no steam. Is there anywhere we can get a new element for...

Sounds very much like the element has gone. Mine went after I moved house (suspect something happened during transit). Mine was replaced by a heating technician who wasn't even an official Ascaso agent, so I guess the answer I would give would be go to a local heating systems technician/company. Mine cost a bit more than that, but I got them to change it, so if you're doing it yourself you might get it for under $100.

Ascaso Dream water leak & bad shots

Hi
Sounds like you have a leak in the system. If your handy, you can remove the top. Remove everything. Water tank included. Unplug the machine. Now turn the machine upside down on a towel. There are 2 screws behind the brew head. Remove them, then lift the machine off the top and set it right side up. Now you can see the inside of the machine where the boiler is. Do not touch anything inside the machine. Replace everything and plug the machine in. Now turn the machine on and try to make a shot the same way. This should show you where your trouble is. Once you see where the trouble is, unplug the machine. Contact seattlecoffeegear.com, or 1st-line.com. They can help.
