a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Sorry not a solution but experienced the same problem. The problem started off the same as you described by now my player won't play DVDs at all. Seems that the laser is faulty and it is cost prohibitive to repair (it's sold as a complete module which would be around £100). I've been advised to replace it :-(

This is because you DVD player's lense got too old. Try to clean that with a good Lense Cleaner. If the problem persists, change the Lense for the same.

SOURCE: DVD'S stop playing
I have a Lifestyle 48 with the same issue. I spoke to tech support at Bose and had it explained to me this way. My Lifestyle 48 was purchased in 2006, but the hard drive and the optical reader were from as far back as 2004. Well since that point most new DVD's are double embedded, if I remember correctly. Now the manufacturers embed more information on the DVD in a double layer. They stick all those director's cuts and all the other **** that no one watches all on one DVD now instead of requiring two or three DVD's. Ultimately, this f***s up your Bose system. As for me, every DVD that I try to watch now freezes up at some point and gives me a Cannot Read error. The tech I spoke with at Bose said this is an industry wide problem and he had the same problem with his XBox. It has become so prevalent that Microsoft is now saying not to use the XBox to play DVD's. The tech I spoke with said they could send me a firmware update, but there is no guarantee that it will correct the problem. His suggestion was to have the system in to have the guts replaced. This is something that Bose is doing free of charge plus they give you a new 1 year warranty on the new parts. Since I spoke to them they have sent a box to my house with all the packing material. My job is to pack up the main unit and ship it off to Framingham, MA. I have been told that repairs and returns are currently taking 3 to 4 weeks. I do suggest you call Bose, talk to them and they will take it from there. In my case they are definitely standing behind their product. Good luck.
