Would suggest the starter motor requires removal, cleaning and oiling, and or replacing starter drive.

SOURCE: renault laguna sports tourer 1.9 dci wont start

Try the relays under the bonnet fuse box 4 small black ones in a line, the first 2 from top cut of the fuel pump, and are a renowned cause of 85% of cranking without starting faults on the dci engine swap them over for the bottom 2 .
If it starts, buy 2 from Renault and fit
if the engine still fails to start the egr valve may be stuck closed starving the engine of air, its on the top of the engine at the air intake and has 3 bolts, remove it and clean it with carb cleaner then check its condition, if it appears ok, replace the cleaned one, if not you need a new one or the turbo will blow its seals and the engine will rev and burn on the engines own oil.
beyond this and your diy fixes are at an end without a obd2 code reader.

I have a 1996 2.2 renault laguna and my heating keeps cutting out

On a car that old the most likely thing is the heater matrix is blocked and needs replacing, you can't clean them.
If the engine is reaching normal running temp then reach down the back at where 2 hoses run through the bulkhead. Check them for heat. If hot then change the matrix.
If you have aircon then as a past laguna owner I can tell you its a really bad task. There's no room at all.
Sorry.

Renault laguna engine fan not coming on and engine overheats and red warning light comes on and says to stop. coolant ok but everything gets really hot. ok when doing long journey but not when stopping and...

Hi,
The problem would be the radiator cooling fan.
  • Check first the relay, interchange that relay from similar one in the fuse box in the engine compartment.
  • Check the radiator fan motor, pull down the fan motor and directly connect it to the battery.
  • Check the cooling fan thermo switch, it is located underneath/side of the radiator assembly. To check it, just get a paper clip and short the socket connector, fan should run if not the relay has a problem or the fan motor is already malfunctioning.
Hope that helps you out.
Tanks for asking FixYa!
