Question about Vizio VS42LF 42 in. LCD HDTV
My TV all of a sudden turned white a grey. I can still see the picture but looks like all the colors are white and grey. Not sure what do I need to replace. sound works and picture is there. I probably need a new bulb or something. model number is VS42LFHDTV10A
First, try to play DVD on your tv to determine if the problem is on TV itself. If the TV looks fine on DVD you have cable box connection problem if not you have faulty t-con board not bulb etc.
T-con is the responsible for colors and image graphics.

The porblem can be the main board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board or not feeding the 12vdc to the T-CON board, or bad T-CON board due to blown fuse. Those are the two area you need to check. Please read my guide.

SOURCE: I have a Vizio 50"
That problem is usually cause of bad inverter board or T-con board also there is the possibility that you have failing capacitors....
If your TV is totally black even back-light the problem is inverter board..please try to replace it to fix your TV.
If your have back-light but no image comes out...The problem could be on the T-con board..if that so please replace it...
This is for bad capacitors...
1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter..
Look at the label capacitors...That is the sample image..
I hope this solution will be helpful...Thanks for using fixya...
