Question about Televison & Video
Open up the television and check for any misplacements of screws and look around to see if everything's placed alright ( using the skill of common sense )
If you have done this and see that everything is okay and it is a electronic issue you can't make sure of, you can either send it to a electronics store that MAY be able to fix it, or try and fix it yourself, this is my recommendation if you were to attempt to fix yourself -
- Buy a new POWER connector and open up the television. Desoughter the current one out of it's place and replace it with your new power connector.
- This option is optional , but I am listing it as I do not know HOW you are using this television. If you are using the VGA / DVI / HDMI connectors as a monitor, I would recommend you desoughter and replace them with NEW connectors, and always know that even if this is not the solution, you can always take the new one's out and who knows? They might be useful later on in life.
- If you actually attempt these and you have no luck, then you most likely HAVE TO get it checked by a specialist , as if it has got to something with the actual circutry then you have no luck as to fixing it by yourself.
This is my answer, I apologise I can't give you more information, but you haven't specified much about your TV also, if you really want to , you can email me at Peter.Jopy@Gmail.com more information regarding your TV. Thank you.

There is a real good chance that the lamp fan is not turning. If you look with a flashlight in the vent on the left side looking at the rear of the set and have someone turn on the unit, see if it spins. if it doesnt, the protect circuit in the tv will not let the set turn on. Replacing the fan will cure the proplem if it is not turning.
Hope this helps,

Probably out of warranty?
this is an issue with either one of two things,
1) Power supply
2) Lamp 'Florecent back lighting tubes' ballest.
Depending on the service shop rates, the labor is more than the part. Call around and get some price quotes. Worth your time. These set's are still expensive?
Now if it's a 15" . Buy a new one. They are just a throw away item these days.
