SOURCE: Need help with a router

Yes I do know routers require configuration (setup) go connect to some devices to access the internet.

I am not familiar with the ISP 3web -- can you provide me the website where the support or help function is located.

I may have found the 3web help site check the following link to assure the service is right and let me know if you have a DSL or Cable connection.

help link

If you are not familiar wit configuring your wireless router --
Will you provide me with the Manufacturer and Model of the
Router? They all configure differently when it comes to
detailed instructions. (the link provides instructions for
some routers however maybe not for yours)

I may need manufacturer and model information on your modem device depending on what I find at the ISP's site. (if the link is right I probably do not need this)

The following is probably not covered in the 3web documentation.

With wireless services attached to your network you should also consider securing that wireless service so others cannot easily access your network and computers, like your neighbors or people on the street with a laptop.

If you want to consider that I can discuss several options with you. However to determine which options your equipment supports I will need to know the manufacturer and model number of your wireless adapter or the computer with a built-in wireless adapter you intend to connect to your wireless network.

Escribe your Linksys E2000 Advanced WirelessN Broadband Router Network Routers Problem Router has been working fine since initial setup almost a year ago. Turned on computer yesterday, and it would not...

Please check whether your computer's wireless connection enabled or disabled. If you are using windows 7 this information you can find in network sharing center. By accident if WLAN is disabled it can be enabled. Also power cycling the router may do the trick.
More drastic approach is resetting the router which I recommend to reserve as last resort. With information you provided the router seems to be fine and your computer wireless need to be enabled!
good luck!

Setup didn't work, "details" section on network

Win7 will connect without any problems, but win vista will not get connected to the network...
You can update the drivers for wireless adapter in vista laptop, it will get connected...
If it still not getting connected then change the security settings on your router to 64bit WEP... (Initially it will be in WPA)
disabled the WPS (wifi protected setup) in the router...
change the ssid in the router...
Now try to connect to the new wireless network...It will work perfectly....

click here to configure the wireless part of your belkin router...

Wont connect to netgear wireless router

Not much information to go on, but I will suggest a couple things to try to help figure this out.
First of all, make sure the wireless card in the notebook is turned on- not sure if there's a switch or push button on the Sylvania, but find it and ensure it's on.
Next, take the computer to another hotspot, and see if it works...that will let you know your wireless card is good.
If you're having a problem with your router, you can try to uninstall/reinstall it, in the hope that it's a software issue. If that doesn't help, you probably have a bad router.
They're pretty automatic, but it's possible that some parameter on the setup has to be adjusted slightly.
I've read that sometimes Norton has to be disabled during setup of certain routers, and also check your firewall.
The following blog has some suggestions, and may help, although they're dealing with a Gateway computer:

Good luck, and hope this helps.

We have set a laptop wireless using bt but I cannot remember the security code I have tried putting in the code in the 192.168..1.1 in the address bar but not getting anywhere what am I doing wrong

Hi Friend,

Please disable the firewall of your system and then try to open 192.168.1.1. If that doesnot work, then reset the router. Push and hold the reset button for 30 seconds and turn it off. Switch on the router and ensure that the computer is connected with an ethernet cable with the router to configure it.

Type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. Lave the Username blank and type admin in Password. In the router setup page click Wireless and Select the wirless mode as manual and enter the settings as required.

Click Wireless Security and set the Security as per you requirements

Can't log on with laptop

Are you trying to login to the router from a laptop wirelessly or is the laptop directly connected to the router? If you are trying to configure the router for the first time, you need to be directly connected to it. Wireless is turned off by default and access to the router setup by wireless connection is also usually disabled by default.

Linksysfix doesnt exist how do i set up wireless

First of all you need to connect your router to your PC with a cable. This should then detect your wireless network providing that your wireless connectivity is installed and functioning. You can then configure your wireless setup by accessing your router. To do this type in 192.168.1.1 into your browser and then when prompted for Username & Password use "admin" (without the quotes) for both

The router interface gives you tab browsing, so you can go to the wireless tab and then onto wireless security. In the basic setup make sure that the Auto Detect button is disabled - it improves speed.

HINT - I have found that disabling the Windows Firewall enhances performance as the router has a built-in Firewall.

Hope this helps
