SOURCE: wired LAN

A usb ethernet adapter does not cost much and no troubleshooting needed.
I assume your trying to get your built-in card to trigger have you checked the bios to be certain it is enabled.
and go to control panel check the system device manager to see what it says about the ethernet.
does it show up under my network places and if it does is it bridged. Get properties on it.

SOURCE: Authentication failure

hia,

you need a network key for wireless connection to get authorized and allow your PC to connect.
make sure you have right key if security is enabled on wireless router.

now if you are entering right key then need to make sure which type of encryption router is using by going into router settings as an emaple WEP,WAP,TES etc...and make sure your computer wireless settings are same as this type.

let me know if you need more info in detail or step by step.

Thanks.

SOURCE: not able to connect my

can you connect to the internet using any other devices. If not the problem is likely that the modem is not able to logon to your isp
you will need to get access to the modem (try typing either "home" or "192.168.1.254" into the address bar of your web browser, this should bring you to the settings for your modem/router. If your ISP is AT&T then you will want to run the setup wizard (about halfway down on the right hand side of the page) when prompted enter your isp provided email address and password.

if you have an isp other than "ma bell" the problem is likely the same, though the solution might require a call to thier tech support line.

SOURCE: New to wireless networking, never used before.

Have you updated your firmware on your Archos 101? If you can get to a public wifi hotspot like at a McDonalds or Starbucks you should be able to download the latest firmware (you can force the tablet to check for it by going to Settings - About Device - Firmware Update).
The latest firmware included several fixes for WiFi issues that previous firmware versions struggled with.
I would try that, attempt to connect again at home, and if it's still not working switch your troubleshooting focus to the router itself.

SOURCE: lost wi fi connection to our wireless network, tablet displays "turning off" under the wi fi settings.

I suggest to reinstall the wireless card driver first ..just in case, this will solve any driver issues and will make it functional in case the driver or the setting are corrupted..
To download the driver in case you do not have it on disk or saved somewhere ..just go to acer.com ...select downloads ...drivers and select the model and operation system you use..
download the wifi driver ..run it again ..and after that restart ..and try to make the connection again ...Check the wireless card in device manager to see if it shows in order ...and did not appear in yellow which indicates driver related issues..
also be sure you have network signal ..and the router is functional ..in case other computer is working with this network ..check to see if the connection actually works ..
To redo the connection ..just open the settings for wireless...and click scan for networks ...In the list of available connections ..select yours..and click connect ..insert password if needed.
Good luck !

Why does my tablet keep saying authentication problem when trying to connect to wifi???

Is this an older tablet by any chance? Some wifi cards on older tablets will not support newer security protocols like WPA-PSK without a software update. An authentication problem can also be caused by mis-typing the key or passphrase for your network, or by having chosen the wrong type of security protocol when asked to join a network. Try deleting the network connection you have already tried, and then rebooting your tablet and let it discover the network again. Make sure you pick the right type of network security protocol for the connection when you try to connect and recheck the key/passphrase after you type it before hitting 'connect'.

Network Key (WEP, WPA, WPA2 Encryption key)To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Unable to connect to router on new tablet

192.168.1.1 is a gateway address, if you give it to the tablet, it will not work. Is this your Own Network? OR Are you trying to hook up to an unknown network? What is the Make of the Tablet? If this is your own Network, make sure that you do not have MAC Filtering switched ON on the Router, this will let the tablet authenticate, but when connecting to the network, the router will refuse the connection as the MAC address of the Tablet is not in it's Safe MAC address table. If this is not your network, contact the owner of the network, if you are trying to smooch free wifi... Tough Luck.

My acer 5920 wont pick up any wireless networks . The wireless is turned on but wont recognise anything. Works fine using cable.

Have you Set up the Wireless ?
In Windows, Go Start - Control Panel - Net work Connections - Right click Wireless Conection - then to the top center tab Wireless Networks - near the bottom of this, Click ADD
- in the top slot (SSID) type in the SSID of your Wireless network e.g. BTHome then in..
Network Authentication - choose Open, Shared or WPA or WPA2-PSK (Whichever your Router supports - further right is BETTER)
then in the slot underneath, if Shared or Open chosen choose WEP
If you Originally chose WPA or WPA2-PSK now choose TKIP or AES again the rightmost one is better.
Now in the last two slots - Type in your Network Key.(same as the Routers) Hint, A Notepad document with the key in it, allows Copy and Paste into the authentication slots - (especially if it is 26 digits long...)
Click OK to go back to Wireless Networks Click on Advanced and make sure Access Point is selected - click Close and then OK to close the Properties window
Go back to Network Connections -
double click on your Wireless Icon and it should say Enabling... In the left most panel go to View available wireless networks and you should find e.g. BTHome is top of the pile.. and it shows it is Connecting or Aquiring...
once connected start your browser and confirm you are able to connect to the Internet...
