Re: Home Center will not open...Can't scan
I'm not sure if you tried this but download the clear utility from kodak here: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/private/xp_vista_98_ClearUtility.jhtml?osXPor98=winXP You will need to click start, go to control panel, click add/remove programs, uninstall the kodak home center, unhook the printer from computer, then run the clear kodak utility. Try then to reinstall after. I always install the drivers before the software by plugging the printer into the computer and running the hardware wizard in XP and pointing it to the drivers on the cd then I install the software after. If you need more help or clarification let me know. If this helped you please rate, thanks! Shawn

Kindly open the Kodak aio home center on your computer. The software has scanning drivers that helps you in scanning the files to the computer. If you do not have the software ,kindly download the software from www.kodak.com/go/aiodownloads
try to unplug replug the usb cable of the printer.
You may also go to control panel printer and faxes and look for the printer of your 5300 now if you see 2 icons delete them both then exit to printer and faxes. and unplug/replug your USB cable then restart computer.
If this issue not solve try to uninstall the software and download the clearutility kodak.com/go/clear. then after doing this restart computer.
Try to install the latest version of Printer software from www.kodak.com/go/downloads
on your computer. then open the kodak home center software and click on scan pictures.
Adjust the settings and you are ready to go.
download the user manual from www.kodak.com/go/manuals.
Kodak AiO home center, serve as a driver as well for your printer to print from the computer. It will let you scan, copy or print pictures. AIO home center will let you select the settings you want for your printer
Double-click the KODAK AiO Home Center icon. If the error occurs again, go to the next step.
Set administrator rights for the Home Center application:
For WINDOWS XP OS:
Right-click on the Home Center icon.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Clear all the check boxes.
Click Apply and OK.
Double-click the KODAK AiO Home Center icon. If the error occurs again, go to the next step. IMPORTANT: In the next step, before you install the Home Center Software, make sure you disconnect the USB cable. Then, connect the USB cable when the software installation instructions tell you to do so.
Upgrade the software and firmware for your printer:
you need to uninstall the software and reinstall it, if you have not tried that. For XP Start-->control panel-->add/remove programme-->look for Kodak Printer software and uninstall it. For Vista Start-->control panel-->programmes and features and uninstall the software. Run the Kodak clear utility from http://unexpectedtwist4u.com/matthew and click on clear utility and you can either run it or save it first and then run it. Make sure to unplug the USB cable after uninstalling the software and reinstall the software from www.kodak.com/go/esp3downloads. Kodak phone support is open from 9 am to 12 midnight EST. Hope that works:)
My son has the same model and issue. I had him go to http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/dln_ekn034524.jhtml?pq-path=12667 and get the latest software and firmware update.
Make sure to use the dropdown to select your operating system. The page defaults to XP.
The software is a new version of the AIO home center.
The firmware installer updates the physical printer. Before you run this program be sure to read and understand the instructions.
If both ink cartridges have good levels of ink, and you keep getting the clean the print head issue after updating both the software and the firmware, then call Kodak support. 1-800-421-6699, 7 A.M. to midnight Eastern time, 7 days a week. They will ask you if you put in new cartridges and installed the updates for the firmware and the AiO centre software. Be patient. They will get a solution for you.
I finally figured out that it was my "Assembly Registration Utility" whatever that is.Reset my computer back to the factory settings and got the printer downloaded which also cured some other problems.Might not do it for u but worked for me,hope this helps u also. The printer is working really great now!
I needed to reload my AiO Home Center software and no one seemed to have the correct procedure. Maybe if you remove & reinstall yours it will resolve your problem. This procedure worked for me on my XP-machine: 1. got to Control Panel/Printers&Faxes and delete the printer 2. go to your Hardware/Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus Controllers, right-click on USB Composite Device and select Uninstall 3. go to Control Panel/Add/Remove Software and remove the EasyShare software 4. disconnect the cables from the Printer 5. download from Kodak.com the program "install_aio.exe"; run the program (I selected only AiO+EasyShare+Software Updater to load) 6. followed the prompts after the sw installed to reconnect the Printer cables 7. rebooted
