Question about Sewing Machines

Open Question

I have a crofton 3032 white sewing machine and my thread keeps breaking. Could i have threaded it wrong? If so can you tell me how it needs to be done step by step?

I am not a sewing expert, and im trying to figure out why my thread is breeaking after starting to sew. Ive tried adjusting the tension, & threading my needle through both ways. Im not sure where ive went wrong.

SOURCE: Thread breaking

Well, I have owned the Janome 1600DP with the Gracie Frame for 3 years now and have only successfully quilting 3 quilts. Its very intimidating how easily the thread breaks!!!! Add hot flashes with the frustration and I've almost given up. Today, I think I have found something. I cleaned the bobbin case, cleaned between the discs, put in a new needle (using the one recommended) but I put the spool of thread in a coffee cup located at the non-sewing end of the machine, sitting it on the Gracie Frame. Then the thread is through the metal eye ring that came with the frame. All the rest of the threading is per the Janome instructions. So far, so good. There you have it but if I had to purchase a sewing machine again for quilting quilts, it would NOT be a Janome!!!

Try a different bobbin. Look for one that is a little narrower. I had the same problem and changing to a narrower bobbin fixed it.

Make sure you are threading the machine correctly and it has the proper tension. Also check the bobbin the thread has to go thru the little lash

if thread is good quality you may have a sharp groove in your needle plate hole from needle breakage. if so, polish with emery tape.

The manual may help (assuming this is your machine):

Crofton MD 8708 Instruction Manual

The thread will break if the machine is threaded incorrectly. Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the upper thread. Also, set the upper tension to the midway point. This is the standard setting for machines although there may need to be some tweaking to get the tension where you want it.

Why does my thread keep breaking on my machine while i am sewing

the top tension could be to tight
the needle could be damaged
try rethreading the machine just in case the thread is caught somewhere
clean under the needle plate & bobbin area for lint or loose threads
always make sure the top & bobbin thread tails are at least 3 to 6 inches long & pulled behind the needle to the back of the machine

I got a White 3032 sewing machine for Christmas last year and I couldn't get the bobbin to thread, I exchanged it and the new one does the same thing. Why won't it pick up the bobbin thread?

Have you got the bobbin in the right way ? Is the bobbin thread in tension? Turn flywheel towards you while holding the tail of the top thread, turn through one rotation so needle goes down into rotary hook then up again to top position. Now pull thread tail and bobbin thread should come up through needle plate in a loop. Draw the rest of bobbin tail up to top. Can you get a lesson from sm retailer? They should give you a basic demo at least. Consider buying a reference book on the sewing machine such as singer sewing machine book or similar. Sewing is a skill best learnt in classes if you can.

Im no seamstress, and i have a white sewing machine, model 3032. i need to know how to thread the needle. the bobbin is already there and secure, i just cant weave the thread into the right spots.

Unthread the machine. Raise the presser foot. Turn the handwheel until the take-up lever is at it's highest position. Set the upper tension dial/knob to 5.
The threading path is as follows:
From the spool around the top guide, down through the right slot, up the left slot, through the eye of the take-up lever from right to left, down through the guide(s), through the needle from front to back.

My sewing machine will not sew it only makes holes in the fabric from the needle

Assure the needle is threaded correctly.

Either its not properly threaded when you start to sew

OR the bobbin isn't correctly installed causing it not to catch the thread when sewing.

OR (possibly just with old machines) the tensioning needs to be adjusted.

It is difficult to say without seeing.
Hope this helps at least some. Good Luck!
