Question about HTC G1 Smartphone
I just purchased a G1 unlocked phone and inserted AT&T sim card with data plan.
I entered my gmail name and password but I get the following message:
There is a problem communicating with the google servers.
This could be a temporary problem or your simcard may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer care.
Any idea how I can get around this problem?
I have rebooted the phone several times with no result.
You can't unlock the G1. It requires certain provisioning that is located on the switch, which is directly attached to the sim card. This phone is impossible to use on other carriers.

You need to have a data plan on your SIM card, or a friend with the same provider with a SIM card you can borrow. The phone REQUIRES a data package to activate. You can however get past the activation, however this is quiet involved. I would google search it if you really want to attempt to get past the problem, but I am warning you, this is tough.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
