Question about Samsung SMH1622W
First couple of months didn't make any strange noises, very quiet operation. Started making a buzzing noise during operation that now has gotten very loud. When running the microwave for peroids over 3 minutes, the noise will back off and by 5 minutes the product sounds normal again. Build date of Dec 2011. Seems to be coming from behind the keypad area, likely main control board.
Unit uses a Magnetron and likely a power board called an inverter to run it. Someone would have to open the unit in a way where they might pinpoint where the sound is coming from and then take action--does not of course sound normal or good to me.

SOURCE: GE Spacemaker XL1800 Microwave
You need to take apart the oven and fix the turntable gear, then reassemble it, it is not a difficult job. Always work with power unplugged.

sounds like the cooling fan has came adrift or stopped working , this will cause the magnatron ( the microwave generator ) to overheat tripping the over temperature stat ,so fix the cooling , but be sooooooooooooo carefull in there , microwaves + really high voltages , not really a job for a non electrician/microwave tech

JVM1850BD002 is a correct model number. This is a GE made by Samsung. It sounds like the motor or coupler is bad. More likely the motor. If you grab the motor shaft and try to gently turn it, it may grind or slip a lot. That's a sign of a bad motor. If the coupler is bad, it will be cracked or broken, causing it to slip on the motor shaft or the turntable itself. The coupler is reference 40, and the motor is reference 43 on this handy exploded view drawing: http://genet.geappliances.com/IPCNet/Dispatcher?REQUEST=IPCNETGETPDF&file=00000000/00016500/00016593.p01.pdf (copy & paste whole URL) Here is the GE part price info on these two parts: DESCRIPTION DRAWING PART NO. PRICE MOTOR-SYNCHRONOUS 43 WB26X10038 $46.00 COUPLER 40 WB06X10144 $8.75 If the motor is bad, you might be able to find the Samsung part number printed on the motor label and look it up at http://www.samsungparts.com They often have parts for far less than the expensive GE parts.
