Re: Monitor displaying everything horizontally
Some monitors don't give orientation feedback to the video card to auto change the orientation when you move from a horizontal screen to vertical. what you need to do is get to display properties and advanced settings (right click desktop > properties > settings > advanced > video card settings > orientation) - you should find an option to change the orientation of the display - correct it accordingly. if the settings are not being saved after you restart, you need a video driver update - find it on your manufacturers website.

What brand and model of monitor is it? Usually there is an auto config button that makes everything right. It is usually labeled Auto. If that doesn't fix it, press the menu button and see if you can increase the horizontal size and move it. If that doesn't work, take the monitor apart and reconnect the video cable that goes into the panel.
Tricky one. Have you tried using different dispay resolutions from your Windows Display Control Panel?
ie 1200x1014, 1600x1400, etc.
When you say you used the manual adjust, do you mean the horizontal sync option?
Did you perform a Settings Recall?
And most monitors have a way of entering into an engineering "Factory Service Menu". Usually by depressing specific buttons while the monitor is OFF, and then pressing the power button while still holding the others. Then let all button go at once. From there, hit the normal button that you use for getting into the OSD. In the OSD, there's usually a new field with all kinds of cool new settings to play with. One of them being a soft reset. You'll have to search the net for how to enter into your Factory service menu.
Oh wait! I know!
If your picture has moved to the right, move yourself accordingly.
So that now you and your picture will be aligned properly.
He he he...
That one was from ViewSonic customer support.
Set resolution to the native 1680 x 1050. Then, using the buttons on the monitor, go into the monitor's menu. go down to "Image Setting", go to "HDMI Mode", then select "PC Mode". This should help everything fit on screen correctly.
Usually when an LCD display shuts off on it's own this can be a power supply issue. I would say if you checked all the connections you may want to contact the manufacturer. If it is only a few months old then you should be able to get it replaced under warranty.
Also, you may have an auto shut off feature enabled on the display itself. You may want to go through the display's menu to very that this is not the case.
Hit the menu on your monitor than go to manual adjust and try to adjust if that doesn't work try to hit auto again if that doesn't work try to unplug both cables from monitor and plug it back again... let me know if that doesn't work I got more informations about this problem.
