You can put the hose over the exhaust of the central vacuum canister to try and blow it out, or you will need to use a long plumbers snake.

My son accidentally sucked up some water with my dyson animal and now it has stopped working. Is this permanent or will it come back ?

It depends how much water and how long the motor was run after sucking up water. If it was just a little water, most of the water should have been caught in the dust compartment. If there was enough water that it was able to suck it past the filter and into the motor it could cause motor failure.

My vacuum cleaner is dumping what it sucks up mostly on to the filter, I expected to find a blockage but not so far ? Can you advise ?.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm confident I can resolve this issue - it sounds as if your machine may be missing the bin inner. The bin inner is the lower yellow section shown attached to the base of the clear bin in the image below:

It's possible you may have accidentally thrown this away when emptying the machine recently. To resolve the issue, you would just need to retrieve and refit the bin inner.

If you're unable to locate it, you can order a replacement by calling our freephone UK Helpline on 0800 298 0298. We're available from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on weekends. Calls are free from UK landlines.

Vacuum brushes are turning but not picking up dirt and is blowing a lot of air out of the top air filter thing

Did you check carefully for splits? After sucking something up that big, you may have split something, like in a fold of the hose. When it is in a position where the split is somewhat sealed, it works. Move it just a bit and the split separates and it won't work.

if you have a shop vac you can try blowing it out. for some reason this works better. You also might try a coat hanger with a U bend at the end.

I sucked up a dusing cloth with my ducted vacuum cleaner and now it does not **** at all. Help can not afford a three hundred dollar bill. blocked

Hi,
Turn off the power on the main vacuum unit. Then thread a plumber's snake or stiff small gauge wire from the outlet you were plugged into when the dust cloth got sucked up. With any luck, you'll be able to push it through a bit or with a small bend at the tip of the wire, you might catch hold of the rag and pull it out. You could also try sucking out the line with a shop vac by fitting it tightly into the outlet and turning on the vacuum.

hope it helps.
please rate this solution.
Thanks for using FixYa.

HELP!!!

There is no secret to getting items out that are stuck in central vacuum hoses. If you can get something long like a garden hose to insert into the central vacuum hose and push it out or put something heavy down the hose like a screw driver and shake the hose to see if you can knock it loose.

Good luck! and for all of your central vacuum needs visit:

Please elaborate on the problem in detail.. Your vacuum sucked up a 'dusting cloth" ? Your description of a 'ducted vacuum' implies it is a central vac system ...is that true? If not please explain what you are using? The more details the more likely I can help...
