SOURCE: freezer door won't stay shut

Could be the air pressure created from shutting the refer door is popping open the other one. There are are channels between the two so cool air from the freezer gets to the refer compartment. Try this as a test... s l o w l y close the refer door and see if that keeps the other door from popping open. If that works then it's likely an air channel is frozen up somewhere and you may need to turn the unit off for a day or so to let it thaw out. Moisture from leaking door seals, or doors that were left slightly open overnight can be sucked in and freeze up the air channels. I don't know if you are sort of slamming the door shut or not but the doors need to be shut slowly due to how air tight the new refers are.

SOURCE: freezer door won't stay shut

This indicates that you do not have good airflow and return airflow between your freezer and refrigerator sections. That is why the pressure from closing one door is causing the other one to pop open.

Check the drain tube on the back of the machine to make sure it is not clogged or blocked with frozen water inside. Also check any return air flow vents inside the unit for clear ice.

SOURCE: smelly water from door dispensor

I had the same problem. Drove me crazy and cost me about 5 filters at $50 a pop until I found the solultion. Water in the Sears/LG refrigerator that I have (french door trio) goes through the filter then into a container on the left front door of the refrigerator. That container stores the water so it can get cold and it also equalizes the flows in the system so that when you put your glass under the spigot the flow is steady and the water is cold. Problem is .... this tank can build up with algae/slime/foul tasting stuff. Since it is after the filter, no matter how many times you change the filter it will have no impact on the water in this container. That is why if you use the water spigot a lot, the water seems to get a little better (as the tank water gets diluted) but as soon as you don't use it for several hours or more, back comes the smelly water again. Solution for me was to remove the plastic panel on the inside of the left front door and clean the plastic bottle. It is pretty easy to remove with 2 screws and easy to pull off the hoses. I filled is with a little clorox and water and swished it around for several minutes then drained and rinsed it. Then I filled it again with a little clorox (like an ounce or two max) and put the container back into the fridge. Once in the fridge, I ran fridge water through the front water dispenser for about a gallon or so. This flushed out the chlorine in the plastic container as well as the lines between the container and the spigot. After about a half hour of work, my great tasting water in the fridge is back again. I've checked the taste on this water for several weeks now and no plastic/odor/bad tasting water any more. Hope this helps.

Determine if door switches are magnetic or mechanical and if light is a/c or d/c powered This makes a huge difference I suspect it is d/c and that some fault lies within that circuitry eg control board or if it is a/c power to the light check for possible short in switch
PS Is that your only symptom?

Water dispensor stoppedworking

If the light and ice dispenser on the front panel works and If your fridge is 4 years old or older, the insulation in the freezer door has most likely deteriorated and the water in the tube feeding the water dispenser has probably frozen. Open the freezer door, put a blanket over the food to keep it from defrosting, and use a blow dryer to defrost the door. Blow the hot air on the flat panel inside the door (the backside of the water dispenser). Close the door about every 5 minutes to check to see if the water works. Once the water begins to flow, you have successfully defrosted the ice in the tube. Defrosting the door works for about 12 hours until it freezes again. To solve this problem, I placed a 10" weedeater line up thorugh the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8 of an inch sticking out. When the line freezes again, pull out the weedeater line, dispense water to free the ice, and then reinsert the weadeater line. I keep the line in all the time...it works great! If the light or ice dispenser do not work, the problem may be *********** board.

Water won't come out of the dispenser. I Checked to the door and the water works to the door, but won't come from the dispenser.

open the door, place a blanket over the opening to keep yopur food cold, and use a blowdryer on medium to warm up the inside of the door in the area where the water comes out. It should thaw the line.

I had the same problem yesterday, and the water was flowing normally in about 10 minutes.

if you dont have a dryer, it will thaw on it's own, but may take a little longer

Ice maker door stays open. How do I take off front panel to revel parts?

Remove the top freezer door hinge cover and disconnect the plug there . This removes power to the door only . Between the dispensor grate and the dispensor cover , inside at the bottom inside dispensor , insert a butter knife and push down and inward , to pop the bottom of dispensor cover outward , on each inner side . This will pop the 2 plastic clips on the cover off . Lift the cover , to pass the plastic retainer tabs . Disconnect the plug to the dispensor . There are 2 screws holding the white housing which has the switches mounted onto it . Remove these screws , and slide the housing foreward and lift . You should be able to see the complete flap door and the spring and pin , to decide what is causing the door to stay open . If you come back with the found problem , and the model number , I would be able to give you the part number(s) needed .

Ice dispenser door flap will not close completely. I'm sure something has sprung or broke inside the door. How do I get the face off to look at the mechanism that opens and closes the door?

Remove the top freezer hinge hover on top of the freezer door . Unplug the receptical there ( this will remove power to the door only ) .
Using a small screwdriver at the "crease" on the bottom of the dispensor control board inside the dispensor , twist slightly to disengage the 2 clips ( 1 on each side ) holding the dispensor board . Unplug the 3 connectors from the board . 4 screws ( 1 on each corner ) hold the dispensor housing shield . Remove these 4 small screws . After removing , at the top right , you will see a solenoid and plunger . These are probably rusted , holding the flap open . The part number for the solenoid and plunger is WR62X10055 . 3 screws hold this part on . When reinstalling the dispensor housing , It slides back on 2 "grooves" so make sure it is back in place , or the board will not snap back on properly at the bottom .

Water dispenser suddenly not dispensing water

Remove the bottom kick plate . Follow the plastic line about 6" and you'll find a connector . Push in on one end of the connector and at the same time , pull the line out . Close the door and press for water . If no water comes out of the disconnented line , the water valve is probably bad . If water does come out , the line inside the freezer door is frozen . If this turns out to be so , you can lower the freezer temp for maybe days , or , put the food on the door, inside the freezer , tape the light switch down ( to keep the lite off and fan running ) and tape plastic over the freezer door opening so the freezer will continue to work . Reinstall the line back into the connector by pushing the hose firmly into place . Leave the freezer door open for maybe 1 or 2 days for thawing out , going by ocassionally and pressing the water dispensor . Important : lower the freezer temperature slightly to keep line from freezing again . ONLY CHANGE THE FILTER WHEN WATER FLOW SLOWS OR ICE CUBES GET SMALL . The change filter lite comes on by the amount of times water dispensor is used and to make money for the vendor .

Water dispensor quit working

the water line that runs from the bottom of the freezer door up to the water dispenser is probably frozen. I have run across this problem several times. you can take the line out of the freezer door, thaw it out and re-insert it, but chances are it will happen again. usually when you have that issue, there is a problem with the insulation in the freezer door and you will need to have the whole freezer door replaced. checked for a clog in the inlet side of the valve where the water comes in there is a small screen that maybe blocked also check on the back wall of the freezer where the fill tube goes into the units icemaker it could have frozen up due to low water pressure

Water Dispensor

The water line is frozen inside the freezer door. Open the freezer door and take a hair dryer to warm the inside of the feezer door. Check the water dispenser every 5 minutes to see if the line is unfrozen. Water line is ran from the bottom to the waterr dispense unit. Usally take 10-20 minutes to unthaw water line inside of freezer door. Good luck.
