I think you are probably right, its not worth the money to get it fixed, they charge about a 70-100$ an hour, I have found great prices on receivers at Amazon.com. Its always good to update, with all the new video connections. If it was a 2$ fuse it would be nothing but after that I dont think its worth while. Good luck. Just in case use a ohm meter to measure the resistance on the fuse, they can probably check it at a radio shack or home depot for you.

Where do I plug rca cables from the cable box into an RX-V2500 Yamaha receiver?

Depending on what type of connections your cable box has available you can do the following:

1) If yo only have the standard VIDEO & L R AUDIO connections you can use the DTV connection on the back of the V2500. If your cable box also has an S-VHS connection this would be the same connection to use.

2) If you have COMPONENT VIDEO connections on your cable box then you would still use the DTV connection. Looking at the back of your V2500 the regular DTV RCA connections are just to the left of center. Farther over to the left are the COMPONENT VIDEO connections. They are labeled Y, Pb, and Pr. These allow for the higher needs of HD TV transmissions. If your cable box has these connections then making use of them would allow for the best quality for your picture.

The following website has your manual available for download in case you need it:

Just stopped working.Doesn't power up you can smell that burned smell. When you push the power button you can hear a little fizzle noise.

This isn't something we can help you with. Keep a fire extinguisher handy if you want to keep messing around with it. It needs hands- and eyes-on by a pro.

I HAVE A YAMAHA RX-V663, WAS ROCKING TO PINK FLOYD PRETTY LOUD AN

I had a similar problem. I have RX-V2500. No power to it when plugged it. Unplug then plug in again. Everytime you hit standby you get a click, which happens three timesand then no clicks until you unplug and replug.

I popped the cover off and just inside, where the power cable attaches, there was a white fuse. I think it was a 10A/250V (I'm in Canada), but read what the spec is on your fuse. I replaced this and it worked just dandy. Believe me - I was as surprised as the next guy.

Anyhow - hope that helps.

Obviously make sure it isnot connected to the power supply at all when you remove the cover.
