1) Copy following link to see wiring diagrams:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-switches.html#triple

2) There are two basic wiring type, depending if power wire and neutral arrive in switch box first, or power wire and neutral arrive in ceiling box.

3) Most homes, the power wire is in ceiling box.
In this case, a minimum of 4 wires are needed between ceiling box and switch.

Can you have just 2 channel by hooking up to right & left front speaker posts on 5.1 surround

short answer.....no. If you hook more than one speaker up to a single channel, it will lower the impedence and will damage the amp. You can hook up multiple speakers by using a speaker switch box between the speakers and the amp. This will match the impedence and should keep the amp from blowing.

Both headlights quit working simotaneously

There are just (3) possible reasons for this:
(a) your headlight switch has failed, or
(b) your headlight relay has failed.
(c) Fuse 1 (25 Amps) has blown

The headlight relay and fuse 1 are located (I think) in a fuse/relay block under the hood.
The headlight switch is part of the "Multi-function Switch" on the steering column.

Here's how to replace the 2001 PT Cruiser multi-function switch:

archaeology_27.jpg
Multi-Function Switch Removal & Installation
1. Open the hood.
2. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
3. Remove both upper and lower steering column shrouds.
4. Disconnect both posi-lock harness connectors at the rear of the multi-function switch.
5. Remove multi-function switch mounting screws and remove switch from vehicle.

To Install the new multi-function switch:

Note:
If replacing the multi-function switch, the combination flasher and windshield wiper/washer switch
must be transferred to the new multi-function switch.

1. Remove the two Torx(R) screws retaining the wiper/washer switch, place next to the new
multi-function switch and install two screws.
2. Place switch into place and install mounting screws. Torque multi-function switch to column
retaining screws to 27 inch-lbs. (3 Nm).
3. Connect both posi-lock harness connectors at the rear of the multi-function switch.
4. Install both upper and lower steering column shrouds.
5. Connect the battery negative cable.
6. Close hood.
7. Verify vehicle and system operation.

I am wiring a 7 day timer and I found that I have 3 way switches. How do I hook these up?

Open following link to identify timers that work with 3-way.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15071

If you have ST01C timer and are connecting to three-way, then open following link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html#ST01C

ALL timers that work with 3-way switching will replace 1 of the two 3-way switches.
The remaining 3-way switch wiring must be altered so the timer works.
The reason is this:
The 3-way timer has extra wire, and when electricity flows to that wire, it reverses program status of timer, so ON becomes OFF for example, or OFF becomes ON..
The remaining 3-way switch is wired so it will send power back to the extra timer wire that reverses the timer program.
So the remaining 3-way switch performs a different function when 3-way timer is installed.

How to hook up heater motor to fan switch

The 3 resistor post should be the first 3 lower speeds on the switch. The high speed should be direct. Hope this helps.

My Hunter fan will only switch from high to low speed and won't

if the three speed switch is functioning the middle speed winding is bad.  Either replace the fan or hook up a wall speed control and keep the fan on high.

Need switch for colman a/c unit

jason, if you are willing to to a little wire tracing, you can do this! We're going to create a new switch function. Chances are that two of the wires are probably for the fan motor (high and low). I'm not sure about max and normal. This uses a two position switch. Figure out which wires go where...then...get a '3 way' switch from the hardware store (they contain a common and two 'poles') along with a plastic box to contain them, a double switch cover and some 'heavy duty zip cord'. This is lamp cord but a heavier grade called number 16 or number 14 (14 preferred). Extend each of the wires and tape the connections. Now, threading the wires into the power box, hook the two fan wires that come to the switch to the new switch. Now, the common terminals and the power supply wire (probably the black) should be hooked together. It should all work...ugly but functional. If you need an on/off switch, you can make that a three gang box and include a standard on/off switch. If you can figure out the max/normal function, you can either switch it on or off or either/or...depending on the switch function. Hope this helps.
