Question about Maytag Dryers

1 Answer

I need a schematic for a Maytag Elec Dryer HDE606

The fiive wires that I need to reconnect are tied together and consist of a blue wire with a # 1 on it, a white wire with a # 3 on it, a red wire with a # 2 , a yellow (green striped) with a # 30 and a green wire with a diamond shaped smudge that could be # 4.These wires need to be reconnected to what I believe is called the terminal block which is attached to the motor. Again, the connections sites are numbered from top to bottom on the lefthand side 6,3,1 and from top to bottom on the righthand side 5,4,2. Three wires come from the motor, which I did not disconnect, are connected to this terminal block.a black wire at position site # 3, a blue at position # 5 and an orange wire at position # 4. You can connect two wires on these positions on the terminal hlock (one to the rear and one directly in front of the wire.) The black wire is attached to the front location at position #3 and the blue and orange wires are located at the rear of the position 5 and 4 respectively. I am reasonably sure that none of the 5 wires that I need to reconnect came from the rear position.at # 3. I believe that the five wires I removed need to go at positions 6, 1, 2 and in front of the blue and orange in position 5 and 4. The only other thing I can think to tell you is that the blue wire from the motor at psotion 5 has a factory piece of tape with several capital Y's on it. I have pictures of this part that I can send. Thanks Ed

Does anyone know what might happen if these wires are not hooked up right? There is a concern here that if I don't know what I'm doing that I could ruin one or more parts of this machine. By the way, I wanted to edit my original message. The red wire is #24. There isn't any #24 on the box.

Is there any contact email concerning this webpage? I'm new to this site and need more info.

Man I been digging around in the shop for my copy of a DE606 manual I have to no avail. hell I might have even thrown it away.
Well you have a common wire, a start wire,a run wire and 2 larger wires which carry the heater load. go with the 2 larger wires on those terminals for the cent switch. White would be common so that leaves 2 to guess at seems to me those might match number for number. Just guessing cause I ain't worked on one of these halo of heat models in years.

Neptune gas dryer and sensor cycle

Well the metal bars dont work quite like you have tested above but i have to say you are on track here. It is correct that the 2 sensor wires are tird directly to the board so remove your gounding of the bars. The control has capacitiors that charge the bars with 24vdc and looks for the bars grounding to the wet clothes. The control board has the chassis ground tied into same connector as the sensor wire. so it doesnt need a ground tied to one of the bars like previous models. Enter service mode by pressing help and back keys for 3 secs Then see if there are any codes stored Then go to system check this is where you can test the sensor circuit you can even start a dry cycle with wet clothes enter service mode go to system check, and see if it says damp dry sensed, normal dry sensed, or short circuit sensed

Kenmore elec dryer model 110.68722700 Where do belt switch wires attach to motor?

If your dryer is a fairly new model, the front panel below the loading door should have a service manual shematic in the inside of the panel. It is usually taped to the inside. Start there if not then you will have to go online and source out the schematic, you may have to pay for the file but it would be well worth it

I'm trying to replace the power cord on the Maytag Atlantis MDE7400AY. originally it has a three prong cord but i need to put on a four prong. in the back of the dryer it seems to only have three...

These two pictures illustrate the power wiring on a the terminal of an electric dryer. The one on top is the old-style three-wire configuration. Most people have this type in their homes. New code changes, though, require that dryers now have a four-wire cord, shown on the bottom.
Besides the number of wires in each cord, there are two important things to notice. First, in the four-wire configuration, notice that the dryer's grounding strap is folded back on itself. The whole point of the four-wire cord is to separate the ground from the neutral. The green wire (the "new" extra wire in the four-wire cord) is attached to the dryer cabinet. In the three-wire configuration, the grounding strap is left intact and the neutral and ground are tied together.

Sure hope this helps you find a resolution to your delimma! Best wishes.

You have to use a multimeter to test the heating element for continuity and if that is good, you have to test the other sensors. A wiring schematic is included with your unit, someplace on or in the unit.
