Question about Garmin Nuvi 760 Handheld GPS Receiver
We can't get the voice prompt to say a word and also the pictures that you show of the 760 nuvi garmen series doesn't look ANYTHING like our screen. Therefore, we can't apply your directions to working our system.
We're thinking of sending it back because of these 2 issues, but will wait a day to hear back from you. (P.S.-also you had to send us another cigarette lighter adapter because the one that came with the system was busted.

First go to Menu > Tools > Settings > Language (icon is red lips)
You will see three settings: Voice, Text, Keyboard.
The voice setting may be blank. That just happens. Touch and be sure to select "American English, Jill or Jack, TTS. The "TTS" is very important in that it causes street names to be spoken. Example: "Turn left on Main Street." If you choose a Voice Language that is not TTS, as are the first selections shown, you will get commands without street names. Example: "Turn left." but it won't say the street name. After you have done this the 760, and maybe other models of the nuvi, will lose this setting on a random basis. Everytime it goes silent you have to redo the process of setting up the voice language. Who knows why?

I bought a NUVI 760 in December and have used if for over 5000 miles of travel. The voice prompt goes off randomly and on mine it has been related to the language section of the menu. If you click language, you'll either find a list of languages or you get a message "None Found". When I get the none found, I remove the NUVI from the car power (ie it is now on its own battery power) and click the restore functions. I then turn it off and then turn it back on again (still on its own power not car power). I then go back to language and when I click it I find the assortment of languages. This action does not seem to work it the unit is continuously powered but seems to reboot itself with the language module if it is removed from the car power. I finally got tired ot doing this and took it back to COSTCO. I'll wait until Garmin fixes this problem before getting another one.
