Any guesses as to what is going in with the picture? Sharp aquos 42D62U. I've done a reset, checked all connections, nothing helps. Any estimates on cost of fixing, and is it worth getting it fixed? C

I would assume its a main board , Tcon or lvds cable etc. Are all inputs like that? Does menu come up clear?

All inputs are the same, whether I hook up HDMI cables or just regular cables.

When menu comes up, the screen remains the same color snow effect. Sometimes the screen just has dots on it, and sometimes it looks fine.

How can you tell if it is the TCON or Main board that is bad?

I would assume its a connection issue more than anything since some times the pic appears normal. It could also be an issue with solder or connection i would try unlugging the connections and then reseating them to see if that helps.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Have a Sharp Aquos LC37D6U that the picture fades out.

Most likely the back light has stopped working, and you will need to replace it. How long has it been since you bought it? this is important because you might still under the manufacturer's warranty.
Post back if you have any more information regarding your problem.

Just bought 42" Aquos but has bad picture quality in Analog & Digital cable

There is no secret to adjusting the picture settings on this unit. My unit is perfect with Hi Def signal and better with Blu Ray. I assume you are using HDMI cables and have tried a new HDMI cable to eliminate the possibility of a bad cable. If you have done this then the unit has a problem and I would take it back or contact Sharp to get an auth. service center involved.

Either bad connection with the LVDS cable, defective LCD controller, or even a defective LCD panel. Can you post pictures?
