I transported my Haier minifridge home on its side because that was the only it would fit in the car. I unfortunately plugged it in when I got but it won't cool. I let run for an hour or so, then unplugged the unit, until the next day. It still will not chill. In reading the entries here, I now know that I should've waited to plug it in in the first place. Any further suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks. Eric

Try letting it sit upright for a couple of days. The oil in the compressor will need to drain back down to the compressor.

SOURCE: Not cooling

Replace the defrost timer about $20-30.00. One plug 2 screws. Mine was located on the bottom front behind the grill. (model HMG 24922) . Follow startup directions.

SOURCE: Freezer works Refrigerator will not cool down

The compressor should be OK this time because you caught it in time. But if the condenser fan stops you need to consider replacing the fan. I have had refrigerators do fine until the fan motor warms up and you are away, it stops. Don't think you should use the refrigerator until the fan is fixed. Sea Breeze

SOURCE: GE Monogram side by side not cooling

I had the same problem. GE Man said that since the unit had been allowed to warm so much, we needed to empty it, unplug it, and totally leave it alone for 24 hours for any excess water to drain out. Then, we needed to plug it in and let it run with NO ITEMS INSIDE AND NO OPENING OF THE DOORS AT ALL for 48 hours. After that, we started using it again and it was Perfect!! I thought it was a lost cause, so this worked and didn't cost me a dime!!

SOURCE: Stopped cooling but i can hear running

The overload/relay is probably bad .This is the part plugged onto the compressor , with 2 or 3 wires plugged onto it . You can easily replace this part . Be sure to have your model number when ordering .

SOURCE: I have a Jenn-Air side by side frig. The freezer

If the freezer is staying cold it sounds like a defrost system problem. A bad timer, heater or thermostat can cause frost to build up on the coils and block air flow to the refrig side. Check out ACMEHowTo.com for troubleshooting the defroster problem.
There is a small duct between the freezer and refrigerator side if this is blocked the frig side won't cool.

Haier minifridge freezing everything

My mini-fridge did a similar thing, until I realized that managed to put on the wrong temperature knob. It was technically backwards. They may have done this to you. I mean, it is a longshot, but try putting it on the highest setting to see if that helps. If it does not, you're most likely dealing with a faulty knob that's not actually changing the settings on the thermostat.

How do i properly relocate my sanyo mini fridge from one place to another?

No, if you let it sit upright for 24 hours it should be ok. What problem are you having?

We want to take this portable floor model to a vacation home. Can you transport them lying on their sides, or do they need to remain upright? Help!

I assume this is a freon based unit being it has a window exhaust kit(I just looked it up). The freon tank contains some oil to lubricate the compressor. I would not suggest lying it on it's side, but if you have no other option...at least let it stand upright for a while before operating it...and maybe only run it for 20 seconds...then let it sit again.....that should allow the oil to get back to where it's supposed to be.

IT COULD BE A SIMPLE SOLUTION
If your refrigerator was transported on its' side you may have to let the freon settle before plugging it in to receptical. (about 24 hours) Try this first.

I recently purchased a Terminator 2 - Judgement Day arcade game. Is there a special way I should transport this? Can I lay it down, or should I stand it up? Can I just unplug it from the wall, move it,...

Check that everything is tightly in place before trying to transport your machine. Lay it on its side or back, and make sure you pad all sides and secure it. When you get it home, everything should work fine immediately on plug in.

Good luck!

I bought a minifridge from a local target store about 2 years ago. The minifridge just all of sudden stopped working. is there any thing i can do to get this replaced or worked on so it can work again.

Hi,

Those mini fridges have a thermoelectric cooling unit... when they go bad they are not repairable... unfortunately they are made intending for them to be thrown out when they fail... but so is alot of stuff these days....

Yes, possibly it could be repaired, but the repair would cost more then it is worth...

Chuck it and buy new...

Fridge wont work

The fan shuts off when you open the door. It's controlled by the door switch. open the door and look for the door switch, push it in and the fan should come on.

Compressor kicks on, but unit does not cool

refrigerators dont come with shrader valves. U must buy a clamp on or weld one on the low side. The clampons are not expensive and are called Bullet piercing valve BPV 31 and fit 3 sizes. Unfortunately u also have a leak somewhere. Most refrigerators use either R12 or 134a
