Question about Canon ZR500 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Canon ZR-500 wont charge

I plug the charger adapter into the camera and the red "charging" light turns on yet hours (im talking like 20 hours even) later the red light is still on and when i unplug it, there is still no power. I was told to replace the battery, which i did yet the same problem still occurs. do i need a new chager? and is the charger just the adapter the plugs from the wall straight into the camera? thanks

Same thing. No matter how long charger is attached to camera it does not charge battery. Red light blinks every second constantly which suggests it is not charging (I think stays red or blinks much faster when charged). I have tried with about 3 new batteries so it is not battery pack.

I have a feeling we need a new charger.

SOURCE: My Canon ZR60 has developed

The issue with all cameras is that it discharge the batteries even when it is turned off..so it is recommended to take the batteries out when you not using it for a while ..This way the batteries will keep the charge ...If they are discharged for good than it will not turn on even with the charger plugged until the batteries are charged a while ..and if the charging has place with the camera off it will not turn on until the charging is made or until the charger is removed after charging a while ..

SOURCE: no power to Canon ZR500 I Have No Power g in Canon

This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

Camileo p10 wont turn on or charge

I had a similar problem with the P10 not charging via USB, I purchased mine second hand so it came with no charger just a USB cable. I assumed it would charge by the USB cable but it did not, the red light flashes but doesn't charge. Luckily I have an external battery charger for a different camera i got some years ago that takes a similar battery , the P10 battery didn't fit properly so I had to place it at a 45 degree angle into the charger making sure the outer contacts were lined up properly and taped it into place. After an hour it was fully charged and the camera is working fine. The charger is a 4.2 volt charger. New external chargers can be picked up on ebay cheaply

Canon zr 200 camcorder won't turn on unless plug into electrical outlet.

Hi, Please charge your battery ( with camcoder Off) for at least 1 hour. Then unplug your charger and turn On your camcoder. If it can not turn on, it is apparently you have flat battery and need replacement.

My Casio Exilim EX-S880 wont turn on. Battery is dead but the camera wont charge on the charger. The red charger light is flashing when then camera is placed on it. This red light used to stay on...

I found this while trying to solve my exact same problem.. It worked for me after about 7 times. Some other people on the site said it worked for them after 20 times. Good luck!

My NP 20 gave me the flashing red light of death and I got Casio to replace it. Then I had the same problem with my second NP 20 so I dug around for a way to fix it and I found the following advice on a site called FixYa. It worked instantly and I didn't risk ruining my battery.

I had the same problem as this.
what i did was...
i kept putting the battery on the charger then took it off as soon as the red light came on.
i did this about 6 times.
doing this puts a bit of charge in the battery each time before the charger starts to flash.
after the battery as got enough charge in it it can start to charge.
hope this helps.

Wont charge

There are 2 possible reasons. Charger is incompatible/defective or Battery is no longer charging due to its 500 cycles life. You may check the output of the charger with Voltmeter/Multimeter if its stable 5V, If its stable then best thing to replace the battery.
Good Luck

It wont charge when i plug it in or will any lights come on nothing happens at all

The S210 is a camera, not a battery charger. In order to charge the battery, remove it from the camera and insert it into the supplied battery charger.

My jvc camcorder GZ-MG37U will not charge

Camcorder has charging circuit but it could go defective. The repair would be costly so in this situation, you can purchase stand-along battery charger for around $20 and charge the batteries independently. Make sure all the contacts are cleaned and camcorder is working with direct ac adapter. Good luck -James. for furnter assistance by email, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

Battery wont charge

This camera not charged via PC, you can charge the battery only with wall charger(comes with box). When camera is plugged to PC, you can´t use it as a camera, only as a memory card. You can watch your stuff in PC( PC recognise a camera as a flash memory, no more).

So, this is normal..Charge your camera with wall charger(Full charge Red light not flash!, if light flashed camera is charging) Unplug and use as usually!
