A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I believe you have OfficeScanNT RealTime Scan not running as well.
OfficeScanNT Listener is dependent on this service to run.

In order to fix this issue you will need to:
click on start or windows logo
Click continue if you are prompted for administrator rights.
Find the RealTime Scan service and right click and start the service.
If it does not fail, start the Listener service as well.
If you receive an error it should tell you there is another service that is not started that they both depend on.

How to set auto scan for viruses upon removable storage devices connection using AV software?

You have to set them under schedule scans, and they must always be plugged in and started with windows for them to be recognized.

On the schedule scan page they should be listed under the hard drives.

Schedule scans are auto, but must be told when to scan and what to scan.

I can open micro trend anti virus but it will not scan. It will flash like its starting to scan and then stop

go to start, then run then type TISTOOL. click on general tab. click on quit on all components, then click on delete temp files. click on start all components. if it still doesn't work, try to update Trend micro. If it is still the same thing, download the latest installer. normally, this happens because of the scan engine being corrupted.

You might like to try a WEB based virus scan before you try a complete restore. :-

Trend Micro HouseCall
Many computer users rely on Trend Micro for their antivirus needs but when you’ve got a virus, sometimes your installed version won’t boot up, so the company’s got a free online scan that can be used by anyone in this situation, not just Trend Micro users. It’s called HouseCall and it’s a free virus scan that you can get right now... just go to When you get there, click on Launch HouseCall 6.5 (you have to have Java or ActiveX controls enabled)

Norton Security Scan
Norton Security Scan is the online free security scan offering from Symantec, makers of the popular Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security products. If you want to start using this one, first make sure you’re running Internet Explorer 5.0 or above, and then head over to and click Continue to Symantec Security Check:

Trend micro keeps constantly ''scanning.'' cannot open dialog box.

When this happens open the trend micro window and press alt+F4 and it will close. It constantly scans so you may want to turn off the residential protection if you are using it.

Trend Micro support frozen on scanning for potential threats. Unable to turn on the firewall.

it may not be can take up to an hour sometimes if other programs are running in the background. If you can't wait stop it from running. Go into task manager and shut down all other programs then restart scan. you don't need to scan to turn on firewall. You can do that first.

Virus scan starts but never gets beyond 0%

First thing you can try is to disable/shut down the Spysweeper and then try scanning with TMA.

If that still doesn't work, I would uninstall the Spy sweeper and try scanning with TMA.

If that still doesn't work, uninstall TMA, and then reinstall the TMA.

Most A/V do a scan during installation. Watch to see if it works.

After reinstalling the TMA, make sure you run its update program (if it didn't during installation) and then run another scan.
