SOURCE: can't get GE profile cooktop clean

Don't buy one is a good start unless you like to spend a few hours everyday attempting to make it look clean. If you are OC you'll love the cooktop BTW. Crappy engineering and source selection. Include it in the price when you move.

SOURCE: Have a four burner gas GE Profile cooktop. How do

The igniter module is working fine. One of the switches (which are on each valve shaft) is stuck or shorted out. Pull a wire off each one at a time to determine which one is bad. Careful! 120 volts to each wire. Also, this can happen after you spill water into the valve area, if that sounds right, let it dry out.

SOURCE: GE Profile cooktop JP360.

Hi marilynmcdon,

You can do it yourself. These cook tops are not glued to the granite at all (Or is not supposed to be). Simply lift is up slowly, start from the side, and lift it slowly. If done carefully you won't damage anything.

Hope this helps

I have a GE 36" Profile Gas Cooktop JGP963 and when i light one of the burners, it trips the GFCI , main breaker and a little fire ball comes from under the knob. what could cause this?

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A SHORT IN THE IGNITER. YOUR COOKTOP SHOULD BE ON A DEDICATED CIRCUIT AND NOT A GFCI. YOU MIGHT HAVE TWO CIRCUITS TIED INTO THE SAME RUN. POPPING THE GFCI AND THE MAIN BREAKER IS SUSPECT. THE GFCI SHOULD SHUT DOWN THE CIRCUIT WITHOUT POPPING THE MAIN. THIS IS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT BY AND ELECTRITION.

Replace fan switch on ge cooktop profile

I agree completely with imaginus2000. GE Profile is junk. Came with the house we bought so had no choice there. As soon as it craps out it will be sent where it belongs. The scrap yard!

Hello. Any store that carries the GE Profile appliances, like Home Depot, can order them for you. Regards, Joe

Can't get GE profile cooktop clean

the problem is you didn't clean the unit before you used it the first time w/ the ceramabrite wax. the glass on your cooktop is porous and unless you seal it before ever using whatever went into the pores originally will always be in the pores and no amount of cleaner will get it out.

Glass top

The cooktop will need to be removed from the counter. Turn it upside down and remove the screws. The biggest problem will be removing the cooktop from the counter. Sometimes it is not worth fixing as the part could cost around $400. NEVER use a cracked top as it could suddenly explode. This is tempered glass and very unstable if cracked or chipped.
