Question about Black & Decker ABD500B Coffee Maker
I've this Black and Decker coffee maker for only a few months and it just quit working. The brew light comes on and I can hear a switch inside click, but nothing happens.
SOURCE: Coffee does not brew
The thermal breaker has died in it. This is usually mounted on, or near the heating elementm and usually turns off when excessive temperatures are present (such as when a pot boils dry, or the unit is left on for days) It can be checked with a ohm meter on its contacts. If it shows as good, it should show up as normally closed. Some overtemp breakers have a small button for resetting, but most are simply supposed to reset themselves once the heat is sufficiently reduced. There are also heat fuses that blow...for good when excessive heat is detected, mounted in the same place, they are often a metal bullet shaped tube. OR.....your power cord...or main power switch could also be faulty.

you can't ,its up in the top behind the controls.
you have to take the pot totally apart.
only a trained tech should attempt this.

Hello FloydBob, The Cuisinart DCC-1200 has the ability to program the auto-off function that keeps your coffee warmer plate on after brewing is complete.
The unit lets you select the time increments from zero up to 4 hours.
See page 6 of the attached manual for the full instructions for reprogramming the coffee maker.
To program the Variable Auto Off:
1. Turn the FUNCTION KNOB to the “Auto Off”
position. Press and hold the “Hour” button
for 2 seconds. The clock display will start
2. Program the coffeemaker to shut off from
zero to four hours after brew cycle is
finished by using the “Hour” and “Minute”
I figured you might also like to have a complete instruction/owners manual so you can have access for any other questions you might have about your coffee maker, in the future.
I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

We had this same problem and it turned out that the inside if display and circuit board caught on fire and melted inside. File a report with the USCPSC and call Black and Decker. They are sending us a new model free of charge but they are also telling me to send them the coffee pot free of charge wtih postage paid. I refuse to do this for 30 days because the Consumer Product safety commission wants me to keep it for 30 days to investigate
