Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

1 Answer

Honeywell thermostat won't turn the furnace on after power outage.

We had a power outage last night and now there is no display and won't turn on the heat. The fan will come on if it switch it to the ON position but won't start the heat.

Probably tripped a limit switch or a low voltage fuse would kill your display on the tstat, you should have battery power on your stat though.unless you have knowlege of electrical you better call a technician

SOURCE: problem with thermostat (honeywell rth111/221).

should be installed with
1) red to rc and jumpered to rh
2) green to g
3) yellow or blue to y
4) white to w
to test: remove t-stat connect white and red - furnace should operate normally unitil you disconnect.
if it does replace t-stat

SOURCE: honeywell RTH230B

Normally, you should have 5 color wires: W-White, Y-Yellow, G-Green, R-Red and C-Blue.

The Blue wire is a common from the transformer on older systems, which is probably hooked to RC terminal.

Try this: Remove the blue wire and jump the RC to RH with the red wire and you will be fine. Blue wire should not be needed with the new thermostat.

This should also be stated in the instruction manual.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: honeywell rth230b won't shut off heat

Sounds like a relay sticking. Possibly in the thermostat or possibly the furnace relay at the furnace. The next time it happens, unplug the thermostat from the wall. If the furnace still runs then it's the furnace relay.

Hope that helps...

The display on my Ampam by Honeywell programmable thermostat displays all 8s. Is it time to get a new thermostat?

"Funky" displays often indicate a problem with a control or processor. The simplest fix is removing power for a minute or two and trying again.

Doing this will likely erase any time / temperature program in the t-stat, so you should make note of it before attempting.

I'm not familiar with the t-stat you have, but if it is like most - it has a battery or two inside to maintain the program during power outages (and allows programming while in your easy chair). You should remove the battery(s) and remove it from the wall (most will simply pull away when unclipped / disconnected) to completely power down. Wait a moment and reinstall the battery(s) and reinstall to base on the wall.

Dual heat system, honeywell thermostat, auxiliary heat won't turn on

IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE EITHER YOUR SYSTEMS LOW VOLTAGE WIRING IS INCORRECT, MOST LIKELY @ THE FURNACE. IT COULD ALSO SIMPLY BE THAT WHEN THE TECHNICIAN THAT INSTALLED THE T-STAT AT START-UP DID NOT GO THROUGH THE INSTALLER SET-UP & CHOOSE THE CORRECT SETTINGS FOR A DUEL FUEL SYSTEM. TRY THIS " SET THE THERMOSTAT TO EMERGENCY HEAT, WAIT A MINUTE OR TWO & SEE IF THAT TURNED GAS FURNACE ON. IF SO THEN IT'S A SIMPLE FIX IN THE WIRING OR PROGRAMMING & NOT SOMETHING MAJOR! GOOD LUCK!

Honeywell ct3200 thermostat won't turn on

DON'T BUY A NEW ONE JUST YET! IF THE BATTERIES DIED & THERMOSTA LOST POWER, IT MAY HAVE LOST IT'S MEMORY. IT MOST LIKELY WENT BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS, & NEEDS TO BE RE-PROGRAMMED THROUGH THE INSTALLER SET-UP MENU. HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE THE PAPERWORK FOR THE THERMOSTAT STILL & CAN POSSIBLY DO THE SET-UP YOURSELF. IT SHOULD HAVE STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS IN THE INSTALLATION GUIDE (NOT THE OWNERS MANUAL)

Just replaced batteries in thermostat and now it won't work. Batteries are brand new.

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. First thing to do is go to the furnace take off the lower blower door and locate the circuit board turn the power off to the furnace. In the circuit board there should ba a small car like fuse usually 3 or 5 amps check the fuse it is probably blown replace the fuse with the same amperage fuse and then turn the power back on on the furnace and check the operation of the furnace.

Honeywell T8011r does not have anything on display - does not appear circuit breaker is thrown - could it be wire disconnected at the plate or is there a fuse inside the unit?

Check to see if you have power at the furnace. You thermostat is powered by 24vac coming from the furnace. You should have power on the "R" terminal.
