SOURCE: My Beocom 6000 table base unit no longer charges

If your base has a charge indicator on it and it indicates that the handset is charging when the handset is in the cradle, I would say you need a new battery. RadioShack sells a replacement battery for $22.00 at the following link

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2815547&CAWELAID=107599274

If the charge indicator doesn't come on it is unlikely that it is the battery. You may be able to get the phone repaired by the manufacturer but it may be better and more practical to get a new phone.

SOURCE: base unit on bt synergy 3505 keeps beeping and

If the handset displays 'Searching', 'Base' or 'Range out' on the screen, this indicates that the handset has lost its link with the base. The following procedure should be followed to help resolve the problem:

  • Confirm that the power lead has not been inadvertently disconnected from the base.
  • Ensure that the handset batteries are correctly installed and are fully charged.
  • Ensure that the handset and base are within range of each other.
  • Switch the mains power off, wait five seconds and then turn it on again. This will reset your product.
  • Carry out a reset procedure on both the handset and the base to return the settings back to the factory default. Your user guide will guide you through the correct procedure.
  • If none of the above remedies solve your problem, please contact the helpdesk.

How do I rescue my BT Freestyle 750 from being stuck "Searching" and remedies that are "Not Possible"?

Have you tried removing the batteries and letting the internal power decay for an hour or so - in other words try to get them to forget what they were. Then replace batteries and try again. I guess you've consulted the user manual, is there a reset button hole anywhere on the base unit? The sort you stick a pin into.

BT Freelance XD8500 - one handset has totally "died". Anything I can do to restore?

just change the battery for new one and you will have miracle...

if memory serve correctly there is two "aaa" batteries in the unit, look how polarity goes!

to test - just insert standard "aaa" batteries and see if unit is resurrected, if so buy re-chargeable batteries, insert and enjoy! check an dswap charger (base) unit, rotate handsets between bases as well, base maybe not charding correctly, check pins on the bottom of the base.

if these do not work - buy new unit, it is not really worth repairing...

hope this will help you solve the problem - do not forget to vote...

Bt graphite instructions

This could be due to the fact that one of your phones is off the hook or unplugged. Check and make sure that all devices are operational and charged.. Try applying a warm damply wet cloth on the back when attempting to open the battery cover..Don't forget to check the phone line itseft.

Helllo could you please help my binatone idect s2i cordless phone bleeps when the phone is on the base...why? thanks.

Hello bgryan!

The iDECT S2i seems to use the same proprietary 'operating system' as the old BT cordless DECT telephones I grew up with, and the beep is actually just a tangible confirmation that the unit has commenced charging.

To turn it off, you need to undertake the following with the phone on its default screen (i.e.: displaying the handset's name, date and time):
  • Press the right softkey (next to the 'R' key and above the end call button) to enter the telephone's menu
  • The new screen that pops up should have the text "Answer machine", with a little cassette icon
  • Press down on the square directional arrow pad located in the middle of the telephone (this key also has an [MSN-like] icon of two cartooned silouettes)
  • This should present you with the "Sound" portion of the phone's menu
  • Press the right softkey again to enter the sound sub-menu
  • Press the down arrow key on the directional arrow pad to highlight the "Tones" option
  • Press the right softkey once more to enter the tones sub-menu
  • You should be presented with the following: "Key beeps " (this "" portion of the above should be highlighted in white) and "Confirmation"
  • Scroll down using the down key to reveal the other settings - in total, these are: "Key beeps", "Confirmation", "Battery low" and "Out of range" - each having its own "" or "" option located directly below it.
  • Using the right and/or left keys on the directional keypad (these have an envelope and book sign on them, respectively, also) turn each of the "" options for all four of the above settings to "".
  • This should prevent the telephone beeping once placed back on the base to charge!
Just in case, here is a quick guide to what exactly those four settings control - should you want to selectively re-enable any of them:

"Key beeps": This setting controls both the beeps made by pressing down any key on the telephone, AS WELL AS the beep produced by the phone being returned to its base to charge. One to definitely avoid enabling.

"Confirmation": This setting controls the rather annoying beep produced every time a setting is confirmed, after changing it, or when the right softkey is pressed to "OK" the change. Again, this is one to avoid enabling!

The "Battery low" and "Out of range" settings control the beeps made when the telephone is low on battery and out of the range of its base unit/reciever respectively. If you rarely charge your phone, or use it often in the garden/more than one hundred metres away from the main base unit, it may be wise to leave these options enabled. Otherwise, I would suggest selecting the "" settings for these, as they can cause some particularly loud beeps at rather inopportune times, especially when telephoning someone late at night.

I hope this helps, and as a fixya newbie I apologise if I have provided a somwehat too comprehensive answer to your query!

Kind regards,
Ghost3203 - the purported resident iDECT S2i guru... :)

P.S.: Should anyone require a Binatone iDECT S2i manual, this is the only online-available copy - actaully produced for the British department store Marks and Spencers: http://www.binatonegps.com/_global/files/S2i%20user%20guide%20for%20UK%20M&S_080513%20v1.pdf. However, Adobe PDF Reader (or equivalent) is a prerequisite to reading the above document.

Garmin Nuvi 760

Sounds like you both have a battery problem. I experienced a similar problem when trying to charge via the USB-cable connected to my computer.
Ended up buying an original charger (expensive) and the charging went smooth.
The car charger should in any case work fine, so probably your battery is not very healthy.

Try holding your finger on the battery symbol for about 10 sec. The unit will then switch to a technical page. There you can observe the battery and charging voltage. When I plug in my computer USB-cable, I read around 4,4V and that is not sufficient for charging my battery.
When connected to the original charger, this voltage rises to about 5V which gives a nice charge. When unplugging charger, the unit displays the battery capacity. If the charging voltage is OK, but battery capacity drops quickly after you unplug charger cable, the battery is probably bad. (Of course you have to charge is for some time) I think around 4V battery voltage give 100% capacity. 3,9V gives about 90% capacity.
This will not solve your problem, but can give you an idea about what is wrong.
Good luck.

No Dial Tone

I have found this free link on BT site for you
http://www.shop.bt.com/content/uni2/documentation/498n/025455.pdf

If the second handset works ok on the base and the first handset doesn't, then you are right...the fault lies with the first handset. There are batteries ( special type ) in the handset, it sound as if either the batteries are dead, or not charged ( try charging them for 12 hours on the good base station ) or the connection is bad.

Signal indicator flashes constantly

The following worked when I had what appears to be the same problem. Solution :- Remove batteries, remove power connection, wait 30 minutes, re-connect power and replace batteries then press button on base until it beeps. Both handsets started continuous beeping which eventually stopped and everything was returned to normal. Admittdly this sounds almost identical to the process used by 'versailles' above, but at least it confirms that the technical info given by the BT Helpline does work
