Question about HP Pavilion a420n PC Desktop
I have a desktop E machine that suddenly won't power on. When the power button in front of the computer is pushed.. the power won't come on.
I opened the Mother Board and when the power cord is hooked-up.. There's a greenlight on the inside.
There are a bunch of family photos from past trips we've took saved on the computer. Please help me fix this problem. I'm able to go out and buy the things necessary to fix this problem. I just need to know what and how to do them.

It is very common that the power supplies in those fail, which is most likly your problem. However, you can do a few things first to test other things. And don't worry, your pictures are most likely still safe on your hard drive, i would not link the power on issue to fault your hard drive unless it was dont by a power spike.
One 'd thing to try is to bypass the switch, mostly they become intermittant before failing, but that is not always the case, I would only recommend doing this with the steady hands of a surgon, but you can find the leads from the power switch and where they connect to the board, remove it and use something matalic to bridge the exposed pins. BE VERY CAREFUL.bumping the wrong thing could be the end of your computer for sure.
Another common one is reseating the ram. Mostly when this is thefix, the computer will power on, but nothing will come on screen, it won't "post" but i have also seen it fix this issue of no power on at all.
The last thing i would recommend you try would be to reseat the processor. depending on the type, this could be diffucult, bending one of the many pins even slightly can be the end to your processor.
If none of these work, or you rather not attempt them yourself,you can remove your power supply and take it to a local shop for testing. if you ask them to see if you need a new one, they will most of the time test it for free because if it is bad then you'd have to buy a new one (most likly from them)
